Traveled with some friends and specially booked this hotel for a memorial tour, we'd been there 16 years ago, that's why we selected this hotel this time.
Hotel still kept its old style, but not well maintained, room were lower quality equipped as less tourists stay in.Will not use it again.

This hotel is in the building of the former Russian embassy. It is old fashionable, a little kitsch, but still comfortable.
The rooms are spacious, clean, AC, with a nice bathroom (soap and towels included; condoms available, but it costs 10 yuans). The bed is comfortable, allowing a nice resting night!
The staff doesn´t speak English. You must be patient to understand, but it is easy to communicate with each other. Laundry available.
The hotel is an uygur one; it means that if you book through an official agency (an han one), they don´t send you to this hotel. You must book through an uygur travel agency. I recommend the Old Road Tours, which owner, Abdul Wahab, speaks good English and arrange you a lot of other services, like taxis and journey to the amazing Kakakorum Road.
No breakfast.

I'd been returned on June this year, She was used to be one of the beautiful hotel on the Ancient Silk Road, but now too old and no longer qualified for foreign guest. The courtyard were once nicely designed 10 years ago, due to rebuilt and function change, the design were ruined. The No.2 building were used to designed for the foreign guest, still had no elevator, the end of staircase on the second floor have a small hiden gap under the carpet not safe for senion people, inside room facilities are ok to use with poorly on hand equipment, anyway, I still love it but will come back when she was refurbished.

Room tip: Building No.2 were used to designed for foreign guests.

The interior of the building is impressive. The rooms are average size, with ornate walls and ceilings. The carpets were dirty. Good Wifi connection in the rooms. Small outdated bathrooms. No breakfast on premises, but John's restaurant next door provides breakfast, lunch & dinners but don't expect good service. The hotel staff did not speak English, and allowed smoking in a "clearly marked" non-smoking area lobby.
