The best thing about the Kashi Super 8 is the location in the reconstructed ancient city. The staff is certainly friendly with moderate English Language skills. Just out the door is Kashgar, as rebuilt by the Chinese government, either to tend the aging infrastructure of adobe brick held up by poplars or to impose Han rule on the famously unruly Uighers, or maybe a little of both. It is one of the few places in Kashgar foreigners are allowed to stay, so there we were, posting up at the Super 8. The beds are firm but certainly comfortable, I had no problem with the shower, and for accessing the markets it is perfect. Our room was clean if a bit dated, but all in all I found it to be fine- but as a field archaeologist I don't require an Aman resort to keep me happy.

This is a Chinese run place in a fantastic location in the old town. Not far from the people's park when you need to take your luggage to the taxi, and surrounded by the medieval style little shops and businesses that still thrive in this part of the city. We stayed here for four nights, with a break in the middle to go to taxigorghan. The room was fine, beds firm but comfortable and great air con. The staff were friendly enough although only one spoke basic English. Breakfast was included in our rate but we didn't make it, the times we thought they said changed and were not when breakfast was on. The Beijing time and local time (2hours later) can be confusing. The bathrooms were in need of renovation and if you get up too late the shower might be more warm than hot. You have to love a place that notes 24 hour hot water as a feature. Cost was 120 per night midweek arranged by a local agent, and 200 for the weekend. Not sure is that was a good deal or not and we didn't get the breakfast, but it's cheap in the scheme of things. Great restaurant around the corner, half way down street to the main road on right hand side.

This hotel is a little tired looking - it has seen better days. The shower was cold, you have to pay for everything (including water and basic wash stuff). It is not a patch on Jin Jiang Inn, but there isn't one in this town. It is cheap, but not much more than its competitors and its location is pretty good. The wifi works, but is not the strongest. It is an average Chinese budget hotel, but it should be a lot better.

If you want to see the real Kashi, this is the place to be. The hotel is basic and could do with some updating, but is very functional. You walk out the front door right into the metal fabricators shops. You can visit all the sights of Kashi while on foot from your hotel. The staff speak very little, if any English, but are helpful and have maps to direct you. You can buy cheap drinks from the lobby as well.
This hotel is unsurpassed in its location and its price is unbeatable.
