For us it was the perfect pitstop before entering the south-alps. Right at the Brenner pas, close to Bolzano and in a quiet nice city. In the morning go for a walk to the castle, it's worth it!

The rooms had very good beds, were very clean, dark and quiet with a great shower. Dinner was ok (bit pricey for what it was) but the breakfast was superb. Only minus was the strenght of the WiFi signal.

We would definitly come back for the given price!

We booked this place when traveling from Amsterdam to Italy. It's great as a stopover, really close to the motorway. On the edge of a village (15 minutes walk) that's quite pretty, with a fine pizzeria.
The hotel is functional, rooms are good but nothing special, staff is very friendly, the breakfast buffet is excellent. But somehow you wouldn't want to book your whole vacation here. There is a pool, it's shown on the pictures but they don't show it's basically on the edge of the road going into town. Functional, not pretty. But as a place you spend the night before and after driving; fine, very fine.

It's a 40-45 minute drive to the ski area--there I said it. Spitalerhof is a great place to stay, though. The service is very good--we had a small problem with our hot water and they fixed it immediately! The breakfast was very good, and the dinners at the restaurant were amazing! Free wifi was pretty good, but works the best on the ground floor. The room was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. It wasn't especially fancy, but who needs fancy when you're skiing the alps?!
