“Lots of fun - be ready to get wet”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 August 2011

I went with my wife, two daughters (8 and 11), sister-in-law, niece (17), and two nephews (10 and 15). All had a blast. The boats were big enough to have all of us aboard one.

The outfit was very organized and professional and seemed a cut well above the other companies running tours on the river at the same time. They were running 10 zodiacs at a time in their flotilla, plus 1 extra boat to as a safety spotter and to pick up any passengers who chickened out (none did).

We went for the half day package and that was fine for us. Not sure there would be much to be gained by doing the full day.

My only criticism is that the shower and change rooms are a bit small/limited given the number of customers they can run at once. If you are staying nearby you will probably want to just head there and change.

“Fabulous, fun, one of a kind activity!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 August 2011

After being in Quebec and Nova Scotia for 3 weeks and having a "fun" activity almost every day, our kids ranked tidal bore rafting as one of the top activities of our trip! We had an awesome experience. Keith was our guide and he was a great guy! He was always conscious of our safety, but yet provided us with tons of fun and went through each rapid at least 3 times. He kept the trip exciting and had a wonderful sense of humor. He is quite knowledgeable about the area, the wildlife, and the amazing tidal phenomenon. He is very conversational and keeps the trip interesting between rapids. He is such a great guy that he even checked on us during our steak lunch! We felt fortunate to do the trip on a sunny day. You get soaked and it can be chilly. Be sure to accept all the gear! River Runners has a great facility and offers hot showers afterward and there seems to be plenty of hot water to go around. The hot chocolate and cookies are terrific and perfect to warm up with at the end. The lunch steaks could stand to be a bit juicier and more flavorful, but we appreciated all the food! River Runners has one of the best locations and "put in" points of all the companies. You don't have to backtrack at all to begin. All in all, it is a fabulous experience. Be sure to try it!

“best time ever!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 August 2011

Our family went on a full day tour with this outfit and had the best time ever! It was better than any whitewater rafting you can find. Our guide Craig was awesome ! He guided us through some really awesome 10 to 12 foot rapids with ease. Our 7 year old daughter can't stop talking about it. A must if you visit Nova Scotia.

“Exhilarating water experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 August 2011

If you love the challenge of a river experience don't miss this one. The Bay of Fundy is famous for its tides and the Shubenacadie River Runners add a very special dimension to the them and the tidal bore.

Our guide, Keith, used his years of experience and calm demeanor to help us take full value from the exciting challenge of 10-15 foot waves capable of flipping our Zodiac at any time. He made sure that we had the full experience of the water trying to sweep us out of our boat.
Keith was a rare blend of professional skills, providing a margin of safety with a sense of humour that at time approached sadism. He made sure we got soaked and managed to keep us on the edge for each of the rapids. Add to this the time they take to explain the experience of the tides and the environment that makes it possible.

This is one of those once in a life time experiences that is not to be missed, but bring a change of clothes!

“So fun!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 August 2011

Don't miss it! We did the 2 hour trip on the 19th and enjoyed the whole trip. The guides know how to make the trip enjoyable, informative and thrilling. We also felt save the entire ride. Our guide, Allie, was terrific and seemed to be enjoying herself as much as we were!
