After a fabulous tour of the Pasta Gragnano di Martino factory, our host at the factory (head of quality control) recommended that we try the local 'panino' Panuozzo which amounts to an oval shaped pizza crust that it folded over and then stuffed with meat, cheese, vegetables, etc. Unbelievable! We had a half liter of farmer's wine with it. Mine was vegan, stuffed with mixed vegetables grilled to perfection. The sandwich arrived alarmingly huge but it had no grease to it at all, just a little oil to cook the vegetables and was light and flavorful. Absolutely fabulous. The restaurant on Via Roma is full of locals and rightly so: local, family run, warm and inviting-- fabulous!
