Arriving after a 4 hour journey we were met by Sarah who showed us around the property which was beautiful. The welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk, sugar, bread, butter, preserves and eggs laid that mornng was really appreciated. The property is on a smallholding with horses, sheep, chickens and ducks. The family could not do enough for us keeping us supplied with logs for the fire and fresh eggs, Their local knowledge was a great bonus when the main access road was unpassable due to snow and ice. Hot tub was fabulous when the outside air temperature was minus 9. The cottage was very cosy on the very cold nights that we were there and the whole place was well equiped with everything needed for a relaxing break. Keep an eye out for Murphy the owners Chocolate Labrador he's adorable, a real softie. The local pub was approx 600 metres away and served an excellent menu along with a good selection of cask ales, there is an a la carte menu as well as a pub grub menu both of which offered great value for money. We would have no hesitation in recommending this property to anyone looking for a relaxing break in the Forest of Dean.
