If you ask me, the one place you really have to go is ‘Jeonju Hanok Village’. This is a tourist village where you can see ‘Hanok’ which is Korean traditional architecture. There are many other tourist attractions around this place. So, it is convenient to move, and it does not take long time to do sightseeing. Also, there are many cafes. Among a lot of cafes, I recommend going to Hanok teahouse where you can drink tea in an oriental mood. Furthermore, you can rent ‘Hanbok’, Korean traditional costume, in this place. If you’d rather try something different, wearing this costume might be worth a shot. It will be very photo-worthy experience, so it is well worth a wear. But, if sightseeing is your thing, I don't recommend it. Because the costume may be inconvenient to move around.

This is kinda like a Joseon-era amusement park. Hanok converted to food stalls. Many people renting and wearing Hanbok. Cute, but not much to do other than walk around and eat.

This beautiful village has over 800 traditional Korean style houses called Hanok. The most noticeable features are the tube tiled roofs with sloping curved corners, raised floors and sliding doors made of wood and paper. Other than the roofs, the buildings are made predominantly of timber, which gives the houses a very charming look. Although many of the houses have converted to shops, cafes and restaurants to serve the huge flux of tourists. Many of the houses remain residential and just adds to the charm. There’s also several cultural and crafts performances and documentaries which are worth checking out. The tourist information office near the car park has times. Buildings worth checking out include Gyeonggijeon Shrine, Pungnammun Gate, Jeonju Hyanggyo Confucian School and the museums to the south-west of the village.

It’s really worth staying for at least a couple of nights in a traditional hanok house to get the full experience.

If you're not a fan of amusement parks with fast-food stands and shooting galleries, you might find Jeonju Hanok Village a bit surprising.

Much of the ancient town has been transformed into a tourist haven, where shops renting out traditional costumes dominate the streetscape. Many visitors choose to rent these costumes to capture themselves in extravagant attire - quite amusing, actually.

I wonder if South Korea's booming film industry is influencing this trend, where everyday people aspire to star in fictional dramas themselves?

It's highly recommended to explore the less touristy side streets, which exude charm. But overall, you'll probably breeze through Jeonju Hanok Village quickly - unless you stay at one of the many guest houses in the area.

Jeonju Hanok Village is located in the city center of Jeonju, where traditional Korean tiled-roofed houses are gathered. This place is currently the most famous tourist destination in Jeonju. The Hanok Villige is unique, which attracts a lot of tourists. In the Hanok Village, you can experience the Hanok Stay at the Hanok House. If you go on a trip, you will be able to feel a different atmosphere than the hotel you normally stay in. Also, it is a big feature that you can experience various street foods. There are many things to enjoy in the Hanok Village, such as Gyeonggijeon Hall, Pungnammun Gate, Jeondong Cathedral, and Omokdae. Hanok village is recommended as a place for family travel.
