when i booked, i asked for a quiet room, the owner put me on the second floor overlooking the car park which was indeed perfectly quiet. being an old building, the windows are not double glazed. The room was a little average and the bed a bit worn but the bedding was immaculate. The bathroom was very clean and contained some quality hosspitality packs. The shower worked and was hot, the towels were clean and nice quality. breakfast was a masterpiece, quality bacon, butchers sausage etc cooked perfectly. ive stayed at a lot nicer hotels for the money so i dont think its value but wish the owners luck with their continuing renovations

We stayed for one night at the King's Head to attend a party in the local area. We made a mistake with the booking, but Jules and Tim sorted it out for us and could not have been more friendly or hospitable. The room was spotlessly clean and we had a really comfortable night's stay. The breakfast is excellent. We would happily recommend the hotel and will be back.

We stayed for two nights at the King's Head to attend a wedding in the local area. New Owners Jules and Tim went far beyond the call of duty to make us welcome and could not have been more friendly or hospitable. The rooms are basic, but spotlessly clean and contain everything needed for a comfortable night's stay. The breakfast is excellent - plenty of choice and plenty of it! This place is excellent value for money and the beds were very comfortable indeed. It is clear that Tim and Jules have embarked on some refurbisment works and we had no doubts that this wonderful old Inn is enjoying their care and attention to detail. We would happily recommend this place to anyone needing a bed in this area. (and the pies - quite, quite marvellous pies!!)

Thank you for your kind words and we are glad you enjoyed your stay. Just a shame you missed our upgrade which has added flat screen freeview TVs in all rooms with a dvd library guests can borrow from.

Our first impression was to turn the car around and go home due to what looked like an under-age bar behind the hotel. We decided to give it a chance but not sure we would go again.

Good Points:
The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for us - the food was good and the portions generous.

Bad Points:
The room was OK. Felt it wasn't worth what we paid. We were shocked when we found out the rooms had been refurbished as we felt ours was dated and a bit grubby in places.

The fire exit was through a bedroom and our room was connected to what appeared to be a communal toilet - we heard several people using the bathroom due to an inch wide gap in the connecting door.

Verdict:
All in all, a good effort but a long way to go.

Julie and Tim went above and beyond for us under very difficult circumstances. The rooms were comfortable, I would recommend them to anyone who wants to be in the area. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Julie's homemade soup was wonderful. I definitely would stay there again. Barbara from Ontario, Canada

We are sorry the stay did not live up to your expectations - especially that you felt the room was grubby. We do have discos or karaoke every friday night as we are one of the few sources of entertainment in Bungay and the surrounding area - however we do ensure all attendees are at least 18 and that they are well behaved. We are aware of the issue of noise from the duty manager's flat toilet in the room and have taken steps to make sure this does not disturb guests.
