I would like to start by telling you about Kippford Holiday Park itself and the surrounding area. The park is as it says in the bumf very beautiful and well kept if a little hilly but with this comes some wonderful vistas. Dogs must be kept on a lead which is fair enough but can be let loose once in the wooded areas. It can be a little difficult to find your way around but this can lead you into little hidden areas which makes it interesting getting lost.
The onsite shop was closed all the time we were there (12th to 16th Sept. 2011) but there is small one a 5 min drive away for your bread, milk and bits and bobs plus delbeatie is only 10 mins away where you can get everything else you need. Kippford village is a 15/20 minute walk and is lovely with a couple of nice pubs that serve food but be careful because they shut between about 2pm and 6pm.

Now for the lodge. We booked the Kippford Lodge 3 VIP through hoseasons which as far as I can see does not really exist
Instead we were directed to Boston Lodge L9 which is situated half way up the hill and lacking the stunning view from the decking we were expecting, also the hot tub was situated around the back of the lodge and accessed by a gravel sloping path/steps which was no fun in your flip flops and we were not given any robe`s which we have been in the past with hoseasons lodges and you would expect in a VIP deal.
Another problem was the lack of WIFI coverage, I had to drive down to within 100 mtrs of the office with the ipad to get any sort of signal and then it wanted £10 to log on for a week which is not on in this day and age!

All in all, once settled in we enjoyed our short stay at the park and grew comfortable with the lodge, it was clean and tidy and did have everything we needed but we left with a little niggle that we had been given whatever was available and not what we had booked.

Would we recommend, Yes! just make sure you know what exactly you are booking.

As the business owner I can confirm that this is a fair review. We are still removing 'black-spots from the WIFI coverage which is now in excess of 95%OK., we have ordered 'in-lodge' signal boosters for clients to borrow (free)!
Alibee did go to the correct lodge, L9 has a fabulously located deck for the sun, though not such a good view, and it's hot tub is sweetly tucked away behind down a little path, but some clients prefer them more 'on-deck'.
Do come and see for yourselves.

I spent my 40th birthday here with my husband, who is registered blind along with our dog Lillly and never have we all felt so relaxed as we did here at Kippford. We stayed in a bungalow and could not have been happier. The bungalows are spacious and comfy. We did not want to leave as it felt like being at home - apart from the fact that at Kippford we had excellent walks and views on our doorstep. We can't wait to come back next year and have already booked up!

We stayed here in September 2011 in one of the bungalows which was clean and functional. If you want a touch of luxury go for the lodges which we saw on the way out and will definately book when we return.

Clean, well organised and helpful staff (forget the negative stuff on this site it was not our experience at all) and without the downmarket facilities that sometimes turn such sites into a nightmare for all.

Steep site up to the woodland walk so take a breather and take in the view....wow!

Kippford Vllage is beautiful, both local pubs are great (had food in the Anchor which was very good). Visited Rockcliffe and other bays, the Tattoo at Kirkcudbright (absolute bonus as we did not know it was on...wow again). Just a beautiful place with lots to see and do. We went as a family with a 3 year old and a 1 year old as we are gluttens for punishment but they simply loved the beaches and the Cream o Galloway we can also recommend.

A hidden gem (or so i thought but when i came back to work to describe where i had been it seems we were the ones who were not in the know)

We will be back!!!

Room Tip: The bungalows are great but they are functional, absolutely fine for us. But if you want a bit more...

Good site. Clean hot showers. Pitches crammed in for tents. Barrier would prevent 7am cars driving about.

Staff good, chatted about mtb in the area, thats why we were there.

Overall good, would return.

Stayed in a lodge at this site. Accommodation was good. First night was cold as couldnt get heating to work properly in some rooms. Trip down to reception and girl was very helpful and explained where the sockets etc were for switching on heating as not always in same room. Kids play area was great for our 2 year old. Great to be able to walk about site and see squirrels etc. Well designed site which hasnt followed the route of some of its rivals with commercialism. Site is well placed for touring around and plenty to see and do for kids in the area.

If your looking for a relaxing break this is the place to go.
