We started our journey from Bangalore on 10th November(4 days before Diwali). A completely packed day with 40-45 mins in each booths, long queue to pay the toll. Finally managed to reach my home in Coimbatore at 5.30 evening. A very tiring 9 and a half hour's journey, with average speed less than 50km/hr.
Next day, took the Palakkad - Shoranur - Pattambi road to reach Guruvayur. Roads are pathetic with potholes everywhere after shoranur. Very narrow roads with lot of deviations. Stayed in a place called Guruvayur Resorts. Neat and clean place for the money we paid. But the food prices are exhorbitant. We didn't have any meal there. The first day, we made the mistake of having our dinner at Indian Coffee House. Tasteless food... and no options at all. They only had Dosas.
We went for the morning Darshan. My mom, dad and grandpa went in the senior citizens queue, which took only 5 minutes for the darshan. The rest of us continued in the general queue which took about 30 minutes. Great darshan and came out of the temple in search of hotels. Finally decided to break our fast in Ramakrishna Brahmins Hotel. Yummy breakfast... with lot of options and very tasty. The Uppumavu they served was mindboggling. Started to Coimbatore. This time we took a different route (by mistake) which doesn't come through Pattambi. Nice single road with no potholes. I did a constant 90 km/hr speed during this stretch till palakkad. Palakkad - Coimbatore road is in a bad condition.
Started our drive to Bangalore next day morning. No traffic this time and maintained a constant speed of 140 through out Coimbatore - Bangalore stretch. Though there are some 4 laning work going on between Perumanallur, Avinashi - Coimbatore stretch. Overall its a good trip.
