Above all in this place the staff does not know the meaning of customer service.
Wine list is not memorable and not so organized, plus there is no storytelling and explanation when a wine is served.
Average food (mainly tapas) and anonymus atmosphere.

I am extremely sorry you didn't like our wines and how we decided to organise the list. Contrary to the majority of other wine bars, we have chosen to divide the wines not by origin and denomination, but by aroma categories (e.g. Light and Fresh, Intense, smooth and Velvety, Crisp and Zesty and so on), and this, because we are convinced this system could give a guidance to customers. We have 11 red wines by the glass, 11 whites, 2 roses and 4 different sparkling wines and approximately another 130 references by the bottle. I am very sorry you couldn't find even one to your liking.

As for the service, I am sorry you had such bad experience and we will strive to improve it . As for the food, they are not tapas, but Pintxos and of Basque inspiration: Not only this, almost all our Pintxos are served as Raciones (main dishes) and we mainly use Spanish and Basque products, and our chefs are Spanish or Basque.

I hope that, when you come back next time, you can find the service, the wine and the food up to your standard.

Thanks a lot for your comment

Been to Wine tales a few times since it opened two months ago. The menu offers a variety of options based on traditional Basque cuisine with an innovative touch. Remarkably, there is a whole section dedicated to vegan/vegetarian pinxos, so those who don’t eat neither fish nor meat do not have to settle for a salad as in many other places. So far I’ve sampled the baked octopus, a tataki of iberico, baked anglerfish with garlic, liver with caramelised onions, croquettes with porcine mushrooms and the test of tests: tortilla. In its simplicity, it’s a dish that can easily come out terrible but here it’s sublime, with a soft creamy heart.

The wine list is constantly evolving and offers a variety of wines with different characters and origins, including some organic ones. Ask the owner for something that suits your taste or can be paired with your food and let yourself be surprised.

To conclude, something new that was badly missed: a place where you can have a good glass of wine and a very nice bite to eat or, if you feel, a full dinner. Prices are not on the lower end, but quality/price ratio is outstanding.

Stopped by to have a drink, wait for my wife and have a lunch together. The place was dead-empty, but suited my mood of the moment. I asked the waiter at the entrance if I place is open and I can pick the table and use their bathroom - he said sure. Then mid-aged guy (perhaps manager or co-owner) staring at his laptop inside in the tone of prison warden asked - "where am I going and why I didn't asked for his permission". I really, considered it as a joke and responded with a smile that I have told the waiter already. The waiter have made a bewildered face expression. Then the frustrated guy, with spiting saliva over his laptop begun to lecture me about behavior and place rules. However, I realized that this is wasn't a joke and said "Good bye", on what received a bunch of swears in my back.

The place probably runs out of business with this sort of attitude, or laptop guy's hypocrisy keeps it running by crouchy service to the large groups of customers, with better financial contribution to his miserable story of "Wine Tales"

This comment does not reflect what happened in reality. when Mr Anton passed by the restaurant bar was closed as it was 4pm and the door was closed. He hence could not come in and eat as the kitchen was also closed. The remaining staff (my manager) was in the middle of putting wine bottles on the shelves, when Mr Anton opened the door (which was simply closed and not locked) and went straight inside without asking anything to anybody. We just told him that the restaurant was closed and he said he was going to use the bathroom. We added that the bathroom was being cleaned in that moment (we re open at 5.30pm) and that he could have gone to the bar just beside us which is open non stop. There was no screaming or lecturing. It was 4pm and our closing time is from 3pm to 5.30pm and the bathrooms were being cleaned. As simple as that.
