Just returned from a week at Smythen Farm. Stayed in Fisherwood Cottage which was perfect. Cannot fault the accommodation. Spotless, well equipped and cosy. Kids loved the swimming pool and the games room. Beautiful setting and plenty to do in the local area. Owners really friendly and helpful. Had a brilliant week, despite of the weather! Hope to return in the future and will be recommending to friends and family x

We have just spent a wonderful week at Smythen Farm (in Buttercup, known as Ruggaton cottage). The pool, games room and outdoor play areas are fantastic and kept our 4 and 6 year olds well entertained. The location is beautiful with stunning views. The cottage was very well decorated and equipped. Be aware the cottage is part of a complex so the cottages are terraced (but we didn't experience any noise). Owners very friendly and helpful. Great location for exploring Exmoor and the beautiful coastline. Lynton/Lynmouth are stunning and easily accessible for a day trip. Highly recommended.

with an exceptional view over Sterridge valley and the Sea, these cottages represent a uniquely peaceful retreat for busy people. The owner, Bill is welcoming. Much to recommend in the area such a endless beaches and rural pubs. A must for anyone wishing to escape from a busy life in big cities!

Room Tip: we loved the Primrose Lane cottage - quiet and excellent views

Thak you very much for taking the time to review - yes we agree that the beaches are excellant and the local pubs are worth a few visits. Most of the pubs are happy to allow dogs inside.

My wife and I stayed in the Primrose Lane cottage with our cocker spaniel from the 8 th to the 15th July. Perfectly situated to explore the beautiful villages of North Devon. Superb accommodation in a tranquil and peaceful location.
Extremely comfortable and the owners, who live in one of the properties, go out of there way to be helpful and friendly.
Although not used by us the cottages have an indoor swimming pool and large games building.
All you need for a wonderful holiday.

We stayed at Smythen Farm Cottages last summer and loved it so much we booked again this year and we have just returned from another fabulous week away. Bill and Katherine offer a friendly welcome and contribute hugely to the friendly atmosphere of the cottages.
The cottage (Buttercup) was well presented and welcoming and had all the essential items for a week away. The dishwasher and washing machine were very useful
The children (5 and 2) loved the playground and the Games Room while the dog had a wonderful time exploring the dog walking field and meeting the donkeys and other animals. The views from the grounds out to the coast were just beautiful.
The highlight has to be the fabulous swimming pool; a perfect way to entertain the children and have a quiet relax in the hot tub. We found the pool a good temperature and the children were happy to play in it for ages. Having the shower room attached to the pool made it even easier to get the children showered.
We spent most of our time on Woolacombe Beach with trips out to Coombe Martin, Borough Farm for Sheepdog displays (our favourite!) but there was much more to do in the area if we had wanted.
An wonderful holiday and I am sure we will be back again!
Thank you!
