Glorious surroundings with plenty to do with children. The warm, clean and welcoming swimming pool was a real highlight of the accommodation as were the trampoline and playroom. The cottage itself was clean, spacious and was well kitted out and had superb views across the Bristol Channel to Swansea from the bedrooms. Wifi worked well and I even got a 4G mobile signal which is rare in the Devon countryside. When we did have specific requests the owner responded positively and made sure we were happy. We have all had fantastic stays and are looking forward to visiting Smythen Farm Cottages again in future.

Altogether I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Smythen farm. Brilliant location in reach of all of north Devon's finest beaches. Don't worry if it rains because there are great facilities on site including a heated pool, hot tub and sauna, a games room. Plus beautiful scenery. You can see over to Wales on a clear day. The owners bill and Katherine can't do enough to make sure you enjoy your stay. When we were there this even included ferrying other guests to the bus stop.

Really nice place to stay. Came to stay with the inlaws and it was a nice chilled place with walks and woods and ponds!! Dogs very welcome and plenty of space to find your own quiet spot! Conservation area also!

Returned this year for a 3rd time to see significant improvements made. We love visiting SFHCs, but the new games room, cottage heating & indoor pool /spa pool have made it even better. Great base for visiting Devon. We eat out every day for main meals, loads of great places recommended by Bill & Kathryn. Stayed in Fisherswood (5-6 berth). Lovely cottage right opposite pool building entrance. Very scenic, quiet & relaxing. Love North Devon, Woolacombe, Croyde Bay, Braugnton, Barnstaple, Ilfracombe & Lynmouth. All visited while here. Great place highly recommend. Thanks Bill & Kathryn.

Just returning home from a week with my family and my sister and her family at these lovely cottages. We stayed in Forest view cottage and Sea view cottage next to each other. Both cottages were really well equipped and spotlessly clean. We made good use of the swimming pool and games room as the weather wasn't great but we did manage to use the bbq twice which again was very clean. Bill and his family are lovely and really helpful. We had a fun days out including woolacombe beach which is a ten minute drive away, ilfracombe tunnel beaches, an amazing beach hack with Mullcott riding centre, quad biking at Keypitts which are both only ten minutes away, we hired bikes from Otter bike hire and rode on the tarka tail which is completely traffic free and very flat and manageable. We also ate at Cook island pub just down the road and all enjoyed our meals which were great value for money. I would highly recommend Smythen farm cottages for a great base for a family holiday and would love to go back myself at some point.
