“Great location and amenities”
Reviewed 22 March 2017 for a stay in March 2017

I stayed at Hakuba Cottage Momiji for 4 nights with my husband, our two children, and my grandmother. The cottage was only a 10 minute walk to Echoland, which is where many of the restaurants and bars are located. The cottage was very clean and the kitchen included all the major appliances and necessities to cook a full meal. Neil and his team were so accommodating during our stay and took us to the grocery store and even helped with booking our tours. I will definitely be staying here again when I go back to Hakuba!

“Haven in the Snow Forest”
Reviewed 15 March 2016 for a stay in December 2015

We absolutely loved our stay at House Momiji. It was perfect for our family, eveyone had plenty of space, there was everything we needed to be comfortable and relax. Neil was super helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Neil took us to the supermarket for food whenever we needed to and helped us to get a great deal with snowboarding and gear rental. The location of the house is great, walking distance to shops and cafes etc. the Forest is sooo beautiful, especially waking up to snow. We would definitely stay here again.

“All the comforts of home in a brilliant location”
Reviewed 20 February 2016 for a stay in February 2016

My husband and daughter have just had the absolute pleasure of staying at Hakuba Cottage for 6 weeks during January and February. I can honestly say it was the perfect Cottage and location for a long stay and it provided us with all the comforts to ensure we not only had a great holiday but that it started to feel like a home away from home. From the onset the owner, Neil, was fantastic and helpful with any requests (big or small). He even arranged a baby gate to be installed to make sure our 2 year old daughter had no issues with the stairs in the property. The kitchen was extremely well equipped which allowed me to cook every second night and take advantage of the wide array of eating out options just a short walk away. A huge thanks to Neil and his team including Dan for taking us shopping during the week and sharing all the useful information that made our trip truely one to remember. We will be back for sure and highly recommend this property to others.

“Great base for skiing families”
Reviewed 13 January 2016 for a stay in January 2016

Clean, modern, comfortable home tastefully decorated. Great space for families with school aged children/adult children traveling with parents- would suit couples too as twin room has area to sit and watch the second TV. Due to the very steep stairs I would not recommend this house for people with children under five or people with any sort of mobility issue unless they are willing to sleep downstairs on the futon. House was well equipped with everything for skiers including racks for storage of skis and ability to dry clothing. Best feature was proximity to the bus stop for Hakuba 47 and Goryu shuttles- straight across road, no dragging skis for long distances, great for sleep ins. Access to Happo bus not too far away too (we preferred Hakuba 47 anyway) Kitchen equipped to support making meals if you do want to cook a few meals but if not five minute walk down to the main street of Echoland -multiple restaurants a great coffee shop and corner store with most items (and two fabulous golden retrivors in residence)
Great to be able to log onto Netflix and movies via Apple TV away from home during the evening. The manager Neil was very thoughtful and supported us to get to and from Happo Bus station on arrival and departure, also assisted us to get to the grocery store a couple of times which is a bit further out and his advice for non Japanese visitors was appreciated.
Would definitely be happy to stay again if we return to Hakuba for skiing and recommend to other families wanting accommodation in this area.

“A nice stay”
Reviewed 20 April 2015 for a stay in March 2015

Compared to hotels in the area this is a much better option. Able to come and go, relax in peace, eat in or out. Nicely equipped with clean, roomy bedrooms for the kids to retreat to and watch movies alone. Wouldn't go as far to say it's spotless (the kitchen cabinets ALL need a good wipe down, inside and out), but a much better standard than found at Japanese places.

Neil was a very helpful, kind but professional host, accommodating to our late arrival and setting up the cottage for our arrival to be comfortable and welcoming.

Disliked that the "assistant" went through the cottage at our check out to, quote "check if we'd broken anything". Feel patrons could be treated with a little more respect for their honesty. We HAD notified about the broken window, which apparently was there before our arrival. Understand that Japanese can say the wrong thing at times and not know it, BUT, I had asked her, in Japanese, to use only Japanese with me as got the feeling her English wasn't that great after she completely misunderstood my first comment.

The ski slopes were a bit of a drive but there's also a bus stop right out front. Late March is not as busy. The skiing conditions were sludgy in places.
