I am writing this on our last of 6 nights in Echo Hotel, Hakuba. We have had a family holiday learning to snowboard. The hotel has been great. The family room we booked is simple, spacious and clean- a double bed , and bunk beds for the kids through a door to a second room . They also have family rooms with twin beds for the children. The baths are deep Japanese style with plentiful pipping hot water for after a day on the slopes. The beds are very comfortable and the bus stop for the free shuttle buses to the resorts is opposite the main doors. Tomorrow the hotel is dropping us off at the main bus station. The staff have been extremely helpful and friendly- they ordered and collected a lovely birthday cake for our youngest as we were out all day and couldn't sort it out ourselves, which made her day. Breakfast is a combination of help yourself continental and cooked breakfast that you order. There is drying room for your kit at the end of the day, a laundrette and a bar. It's a good combination of straightforward and and welcoming- it has made for a really good stay.

The hotel is small by today's standards but we were allocated a room with two separate bedrooms, one with a QB and the other with a bunk bed (perfect of the kids). The room was neat and tidy and whilst on the small side it was still adequate for a family of 4. The food was great both in the breakfast room and in the bar downstairs. The hotel picked us up from the bus station and arranged for a taxi when we departed early on the last morning.

Tina from Snowbeds Travel booked accommodation for our family group of 9 adults, 4 children and 1 infant at the Echo Hotel. Tina was extremely helpful with organising the rooms so that families were together and on the same floor. All rooms were generously sized. The hotel staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble from organising shuttle bus to the snow, to helping us navigate our apple TV. The majority of staff were Australian so no language issue. Great bar to relax in at night, great food outlets all around the village. If you do not require ski in ski out accommodation this is the place to stay.

Room tip: Some rooms have a small kitchenette if requested.

We stayed in the Echo Chalet, which is adjacent to the hotel, 3 bedrooms, all a good size, a family room with two comfy sofas, and Apple TV, which was great for evening entertainment.
The chalet was very comfortable, spotlessly clean and pretty convenient, with the bus stop to the slopes a 2 minute walk away. We used the hotel free shuttle bus 3 or 4 times too, very convenient and easy.
All in all, a lovely stay. Way better than hotel rooms as we had space to move around, and while we didn't self-cater in the evenings (too many great restaurants on the door-step), we did have breakfast at home, which was great. Highly recommended.

Room tip: The chalet was great, as it's across the road from the hotel and completely detached, so very quiet. if you want peace and quiet and your own front door, bang in the middle of the village, it would be hard to better this chalet. Not the most luxurious place we've ever stayed, but great value for money and very comfortable.
