"Wonderful Stay At Jinpyokaku Ryokan"

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 27 Aug 2016
We stayed for 2 nights at Jinpyokaku in December 2015.

The location was most convenient for visiting the Snow Monkey Park, which we could fit into the afternoon of our arrival. (very efficient use of our short 2 days)

The team of Nishi San and Sato San, as well as the owner's son provided us not just with courteous service, they were also very helpful, pleasant, and friendly. The advice they gave us to do a day trip to Obuse was greatly appreciated, thank you Sato San!

Our room was spacious, it has a huge bathroom, but to name just one highlight of our experience at Jinpyokaku we must say that it was the onsen. It was so special as we were given the opportunity to use all the 3 sections just for ourselves for an hour. We really appreciate that Nishi San!

The food...., prepared by the owner herself, made beautiful spread, during breakfast and Kaiseiki dinner served in the private dining room. was most delicious, using the freshest local ingredients, be it meat, vg, or fruit, and also very beautifully presented.

On our departure the owner sent us off with a beautiful gift she made herself, we truly appreciated the kindness, hospitality and generosity shown to us by all at Jinpyokaku.

As they told us, staying in Jinpyokaku is special all year long, be it in the Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter. Based on our experience we know it is true.

We were treated like Royalty! Nishi took care of us for incredible breakfast and dinner. Probably the best food we ever had! The area was amazing. Very close to Snow Monkey area. Overall an experience not to be missed. The meals were prepared with utmost care by the owner/chef who was a wonderful lady (not much English ) The room (more like a 2 bedroom apartment) had its own hot spring bath which we took advantage of at least twice a day. The entire property was beautiful and immaculate.

We stayed at Jinpyokaku for 2 nights in July. The hotel is absolutely amazing! The meals are wonderful, not only delicious but beautifully presented. All of the ingredients are the highest quality. Nishi was so nice and so helpful to explain all we needed to know regarding how to use our private open air bath and how to put on our robes properly. She also served us our meals. We can not say enough about what a special person she is. We hiked up to the Snow Monkey Park both days around 3:45 and saw literally one hundred monkeys. It was fascinating and we took amazing videos and pictures as they scampered by us within inches of us. Just stay perfectly still when they are close so as not to startle them as they carry their tiny babies on their back!
Staying at Jinpyokaku was the highlight of our stay in Japan.

We all agreed that we made a big mistake not to stay at least two nights. Everything was perfect a highlight of our Japanese adventure. The hand drawn menu explanation to the private and public baths within the small compound of just 6 suites means you can have a private and full Japanese cultural experience. The food was heavenly - all local delicacies. No details was left out to make your stay truly memorable.
The only thing that was annoying was that the reception only opened at 9.00am which meant we had to rush out to see the monkeys as we had a train to catch. In hindsight we should have settled our bill the night before.

Having stayed at numerous hotels in Japan over the years, Jinpyokaku and the wonderful people who run the ryokan, exceeded all expectations and gave an amazing experience that I will always remember.

At Jinpyokaku, the rooms were comfortable, large and gorgeous, the onsen hot springs incredibly soothing, and the food included (Dinner & Breakfast) was out of this world. When taking the price of a night's stay at Jinpyokaku into consideration, it's important to note that for the night's price, you will get the equivalent of a 5-star, 10 course type dinner with the finest and freshest meats, seafood, fruits, vegetables, teas and juices of the local Yudanaka/Shinshu region. The fresh apple dishes and juices were delicious and the apple fed local beef was the best beef I've ever had, even topping Kobe beef. Breakfast at Jinpyokaku is just as good as dinner with mouth savoring soups, meats, and fantastic toasts and fruit jams, and that's just the beginning courses. Taking into consideration the extremely high quality Japanese dining experiences included, the wonderful onsen which is often private even when using the public bath since there are only 6 rooms total at the location, the extremely courteous and wonderful staff always there to help, and the beautiful tranquil location of Yudanaka and the nearby scenic hike to the Snow Monkey Park (which is great in itself), Jinpyokaku is worth every yen and more, and I definitely look forward to staying at Jinpyokaku again in the future. Highly recommended.

We stayed in three Ryokans across a two week stay in Japan and this one was far above the others. It's in a good location, right next to the snow monkey park. The food here is excellent, if you can't quite manage the full Japanese style breakfast in the morning, then they will bring you some toast and jam too.
The people here are so kind, they were there to pick us up from the station and dropped us back and even picked us up from the town too. Always on time and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and have everything you need in a traditional Japanese Ryokan.
The best thing about this Ryokan is the people and the service they offer - the lady who looked after us was so sweet and kind. When we left, everyone came out to say goodbye to us - even the amazing chef.

Thank you to everyone at Jinpyokaku.
