The hotel is recently renovated, rooms are spotless, beds are just perfect, shower is hot and powerful. The food is delicious and the staff are professional, polite and helpful. The beach is 2 mins walk from the back of the hotel. The car park has CCTV. I want to also to say a special thanks for accommodating our strange request to allow us to charge our electric Car which allowed to explore more of the beautiful countryside and leave after our two day stay with a full battery. Charlie and wife could not have been more helpful. There is no nearby charging infrastructure in Downings only in Letterkenny 40 mins away. This was our first time in Downings and we really enjoyed our stay.

The Beach House is a nice crisply furnished hotel, located in the heart of this happy seaside village. Breakfast is excellent, freshly cooked traditional Irish and brought to your table. Bedrooms are ample, mine was a bright corner room with views over the well-kept caravan park and sea beyond. Front rooms would had views if the village. Service is great throughout. The bar does well-priced food and is a popular place to eat and be entertained by Donegal musical talent in superb traditional Donegal style. It is located in an Irish speaking area, so you can try out a few phrases in the Irish language. The beach is very safe and sheltered, and there are countless beautiful places to visit by carbor by foot. It can be reached by bus from Letterkenny, so walkers can be facilitated and rewarded. There are several eateries in the village, and you can enjoy a bag of chips on the beach, plenty of waste disposal & recycling bins lending to the cleanliness of the resort. I reached the place by a lovely drive via Glenveagh, from Donegal Airport, having hired a car there. It’s been voted most scenic airport in the world, and I’ve enjoyed three trips to various parts of Donegal by air.
