The hotel seemed to be very tired and in need of some tlc. It seemed that this. This seemed to be underway as pictures were missing of the walls and display cabinets were empty.
The bedroom was large, with adequate furniture, but no electric socket near a mirror for the ladies to do their hair and the kettle on the windowsill, with the coffee etc on the opposite side of the room.
The breakfast had a nice fresh fruit salad and the cooked buffet items were good.
The evening meals were good but would have been great if only fresh vegetables had been served instead of over cooked frozen vegetables.
Most of the staff were friendly.
There was a really nice open fire in the lounge and some great views over the loch and the hills.

For a last minute booking it was ok... It had a bed, however was without basics that were advertised , heater was broken, no wifi , no free breakfast and mould on the walls of the room and the bathroom , the ceiling was crumbling away in parts . To be fair it was quite cheap and our room had a beautiful view, but it could do with some serious renovations. Mould can have serious health risks so we wouldn't stay again.

Thank you for your comments regarding your recent stay with use.

I was disappointed/shocked to read that the basics such as shower gel and liquid shop were not available, as upon checking the room the containers are on the wall in the fixed secure brackets, may i ask if this were empty did you as a member of the team to ensure they were refilled, as they would have happily attended to this for your convenience,

I have checked the heater in the room you occupied the sea-view double and found that it is working, may i inquire if you reported this as we would have shown the operation and assisted, having checked the heater and that it is operating, does not mean to say your experience was that the heater was not working at the time of you arrival, if it had been switched off, as i had to switch this on at the wall.

As we have mentioned in many previous review replies, since taking over the hotel in March of this year we are planning a major refurb at the end of the year, this to include replace the bathrooms with shower wet rooms, new fixtures and fittings. As the business had many contracts already in line for this year, we were unable to start this before this period,

With regard to the black marking on the silicone we treat all our bathrooms daily with mold chemicals, the markings that are in the bathroom are black stains on the silicone much from the water built up over the years.

I do feel that if the room was unsatisfactory to your expectations if they had been brought to our attention, that we could have assisted in a possible relocation to another room, that would have met your expectations.

We do hope we have the pleasure of your patronage in the near future, and would be delighted to show the results of our refurb.

My son and I stayed for one night. Double room, second floor. Very lovely 180 degrees view over the bay and the far isles.
Unfortunately that is it about the Morar hotel. I cannot believe this can stay in business much longer. The room was in pretty bad state, ceiling crumbling and dodgy floor. The cramped bathroom was a mould paradise. It was cold without the electric heater, which is difficult to set to not too hot.
The atmosphere in the lobby is sinister and the staff inexistant. We thought about playing cards there. But it was too cold. There’s a fireplace. Not working.,,
There is no WiFi.
We ran away for dinner to the Clachlain tavern in Mallaig for a very pleasant evening but had to take breakfast at the hotel. Ooops. Worst we’ve had in years.
I believe the scrambled eggs are made with some kind of instant powder. ???
The bacon was soggy and certainly a couple days old. No choice in tea. Nothing fresh such as juice or fruits. The bread was good though. ( because it was fresh).
I put three sorry looking rashers in a plate and asked the young lady waitress if I could have them grilled. Even though we were 2 tables in that big dining room, it took her 5 minutes to come back and announce that the chef couldn’t be found, and anyway the grill doesn’t work. Useless.
It’s a shame they run this hotel that way. It has a marvellous situation and should be a renowned small cosy hotel.
But unfortunately it is to be avoided at all costs instead.

Over priced for what you get, but i guess thats the area we are staying in. Mould growing in bathroom, everying dated. Staff friendly but too relaxed for a £100 a night hotel. Wifi must have been runnng via an old 56k modem

Having booked the Hotel, we read some very unfavourable reviews and had some reservations. We should not have been so concerned. Andrew and his team are relatively new to the place but could not have been more welcoming or accommodating to our needs. Weather was foul and we (and our 2 dogs) were soaking when we arrived. No problem.
Next day, we walked the silver sands of Morar at 7.30 am....soaked through again but revitalised by an excellent breakfast. Our evening meal the night before was also very good. By next summer, I suspect any minor issues and refurbishment will make this Hotel a real gem. It will not be for the want of trying on behalf of the management!
