“Everything we could have asked for”

This is really a bargain - for six people to share for four nights it worked out to less than a hundred pounds each!

The three bedrooms were immaculate upon arrival, all fitted with comfortable beds and appropriate linens. There are plenty of towels to fulfil the needs of six people, so don't worry about bringing your own! The bedrooms with double beds allow for stunning views across the Channel and the Isle of Wight, which is lovely to wake up and fall asleep to. All could have had perhaps a little more storage space, apart from the TV-equipped double which was lucky enough to have a lovely wardrobe.

Kitchen didn't disappoint - a previous review says there is no colander and not enough utensils, but we found two colanders. Do not fret. It even came equipped with foil and cling film, which were the handiest of things to have on hand. Whether they were left by the previous tenant or the owner, but we came across tea/coffee/sugar/rice/ketchup/wraps upon arrival. All were obviously fresh and unused, so we were pretty happy that the bare essentials had been unexpectedly covered for us. Even kitchen roll is given in abundance (toilet rolls are not, however). The oven had no instructions so my friend ended up grilling a pizza for ten minutes before realising something was up, but everything is generally easily accessible.

The bathrooms were great - main bathroom has a large shower which can accomodate up to two bathers, with a bath as well. Kept in great condition obviously, so we gave it a full clean down before leaving! The en suite of the master bedroom is very open - open the door and you may see one of your party in an unexpected state. The bath went unused but it was, again, clean and tidy.

Main lounge area is pretty sound - open plan enough to sit around and still have a great atmosphere, but there is a dining area set slightly away from the sofas, giving privacy if needed. Decorations are lovely with astounding views of the coast. Sky box didn't work for us, but it has freeview all the same.

In terms of location, it's great. Once you get used to the trek to New Milton (about 20/30 minutes, in boiling conditions it's definitely 40 minutes), you have the whole of Hampshire at your feet with the nifty train station. There is a Morrison's and a Co-op there as well, which we used for shopping. If you're on a budget, go for the LIDL.

In New Milton, they have cafés, generally small shops and a few pubs. There are a few bus services. Outside of the apartment, in Barton on Sea, you can hop on the X1 to Bournemouth. There is also a high end restaurant - which looked AMAZING but would have stretched our purses slightly too far - and two cafés. Beachcomber delivers a nice sounding menu with a fabulous ice cream range.

Beaches - walk to Naish (through a "private" camping ground) if you want sandy loveliness and guaranteed sunburn, run down to Barton's beach if you want pebbles. Barton's beach is so close but it is not kind to the feet at all, just a warning. Luckily the apartment is centrally located so you can take your pick.

Any improvements that could have been made? Probably not. Maybe a little more contact with the owner (I don't know when the refundable deposit is actually refunded, but it's only been 3 days since we left however) and some general entertainment like board games wouldn't go amiss. The wi-fi rarely worked for us.

However, this is a lovely, lovely place to stay. Go for it - you won't regret it.

“Lovely little getaway with sea views!”

Great little find in Barton-on-Sea! The accomodation was as advertised and we were impressed by the size of the property! The best thing by far was the views of the sea from the front rooms and the fact the beach was at maximum a 5 minute walk away. There is a little shop and resturant just over the road which was really handy. Would definitely reccomend.

“Perfect weekend retreat”
Reviewed 31 October 2013 for a stay in October 2013

Stayed here to celebrate my mums 60th birthday we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves walking along the beach as we were so close it was a stones throw. Owner gave lots of personal touches which really made the weekend great.
Would highly recommend and would rent again if returning to the area. Only a really short drive from local town Christchurch and Bournemouth, both well worth a walk around. House was very clean and tidy and beds were very very comfy.
