This is such a lovely restaurant with an excellent atmosphere and friendly and attentive staff willing to help you with any request! We started the meal with tasty Venison Bon Bons and freshly baked bread (also with a separate Gluten Free roll). The Sunday Roast was amazing with a generous portion of Sirloin Beef and well cooked tasty potatoes for everyone to share. Dessert was presented beautifully and was the perfect size. With the tea and coffees, a salted caramel chocolate hazelnut brittle was provided - very scrumptious. Overall an amazing place to go in a lovely location with excellent staff.

Returned to The Oxford Blue on 13th July and were extremely pleased with everything. Ambience, service, attention to detail and as for the food, well all I can say is 11/10. Venison bon bons for the amuse boûche, followed by freshly baked cider bread with butter from an artisan dairy that is sooo tasty you can eat it by itself and I certainly did.

For mains I had the lamb shank with puffed rice, aubergIne jus with baby tomatoes and a side of large chips cooked in beef dripping, followed by Cambridge Burnt Cream with lavender shortbread biscuits. My wife had the John Dory followed by the Strawberry Bavarois.

I washed mine down with a Sipsmiths and Fever Tree (G&T) and my wife had a glass of Prosecco. Only problem was that I couldn't move afterwards as after eating all this.

Finally, home made salted caramel and hazelnut chocolate complete with a hammer to break it up. Double espresso and then got a tour of the large herb garden and the outside, see pic.

Waiting for a phone call as the courgette flowers growing in the garden are an Oxford Blue speciality stuffed with a prawn mousse but they'd sold out ☹️ They'll call us when they're next on the menu.

Firstly how anyone can rate this as average or lower is simply astonishing. The old adage you get what you pay for is very fitting here. I was their for an impromptu working lunch and whilst the staff were a little over attentive it did not detract from a fantastic experience and I will definitely be going again. Food exemplary, service superb, location perfect, price a little on the high side but that won't stop me going back.
