This was my second time here, first time was just for a cake, which was amazing, lemon meringue. Second time was for a meal, cheese and onion pie, chips and beans, simple dish with amazing taste. Everything is home made the cakes, bread and pies.

Staff are nice, mainly the kitchen staff who pop out and are friendly, the waiting on staff are nice but can sometimes seem like they are not to interested.

Definatly would go back!!

A trip into Hoylake with a friend, a stop-off late Saturday afternoon in Chantilly. Quaint and boutique, seated table service. Does seem very much a 'regulars' kind of place but was still greeted and attended to friendly enough. GF Lemon Drizzle Cake with Cream and a pot of tea for less than a fiver. The cake was stunning... Home made, not greasy at all and not too dry. Very impressed. Les (the owner and chef) checked in to see if I had enjoyed it, shared with me the menu they have for GFs and also gave me a free GF scone to take away - amazing, the nearest I have come to eating a real scone in years, wouldn't know it wasn't gluten free. Definitely a place to go to on my next visit.

This is a well known kept secret by its regulars:) Everything in Chantilly is home made, fresh and delicious. The quality speaks for it's self when you go in to try and get a table for lunch. It is always full. With no bookings possible you should go early or later in the lunch time-not too late though-the chef and ladies serving work very hard for an intense few hours and must be glad for a rest at home time. The biggest problem here is choice!! Everything looks good and tastes as good as it looks. The cakes are wonderful and if coffee and cake is what you are after you couldn't have chosen a better place (I thought the scones were lovely but a bit too crumbly). Chantilly looks both quaint and old worldly. It's such a shame it's so small inside. It's difficult to manovouer around particularly if you are not able bodied or have a phobia of small areas. Prams/wheelchairs and mobility aids would be a no go although on a nice day there are a couple of table and chairs outside. If Chantilly ever expanded it would be perfect.

M in Law has wanted to visit so off we went for lunch. Steak pie to die for, full of meat and leave room for the cakes. All cooked on the premises, really good and enjoyed it enormously and all served with a smile and a cool scouse accent.

I found this place through trip advisor four years ago wanting to find a nice place for a family lunch while visiting my mum and loved it so much , we visit more often just to go back for the pie and chips and the cakes. The steak pie is wonderful , homemade melty shortcrust pastry and packed with so much steak and rich gravy you would think they had used a pneumatic press to fit it all in. The quiches are to die for too rich full filled with creamy egg and broccoli and heaps of fresh salad . This man knows his baking and even though you are full to bursting you must keep room for cake . The pecan pie simply melts in the mouth in buttery nutty heavenliness ,the meringues , massive ,light and served with tons of cream and berry bright fruit and then there is the caramel cheesecake , sweet and bitter with that molten sugar taste , intense , creamy and yet light enough to keep you eating long past the time your waist band wants it . I have seen some poorer reviews about service and the place being non child friendly lately so thought i would finally post a review because this is not true , the ladies on the counter are wonderful , attentive and will make those special touches if it is a special occasion , they have heaps of local knowledge to about places to go and chat to those who are go for company as well as food . our children have always been spoilt and looked after , I think if you have the type of children who go and are polite , friendly and don't shout or run about they will always be the favourite guest at your table, which is the same wherever you eat and so it should be as customers are there to relax and enjoy their meal too and unlike us parents everybody else do not think our children are the centre of the universe , but I digress, Chantilly's is a wonder of british tea shops and we keep going again and again my husbands pie obsession demands it .
