Visited with my partner and 3 children over the weekend. It was lovely to sit outside, there's a great garden with play area to entertain the kids. Service was quick and friendly, the menu wasn't massive but had a nice selection. I would definitely recommend the ribs, they were huge.

This has been our fifth time to the New Inn now; and we have had a continuously high standard of food and service from every visit...

The welcome atmosphere when you arrive in this contemporary country pub is one that you will want to keep returning to. The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating and nothing seems too much trouble for them. Once seated, the anticipatory service meant that you are never waiting for a drink, or the offer of dessert but you also aren't constantly being interrupted. The sort of service that many establishments would take note from that's for sure!
We were dining from the main menu this time (having previously visited for the famous Sunday roast - a roast which is now a huge favourite with the family and always chosen as the preference for a Sunday lunch venue!) Jamie's scotch egg was to start - we have never had a scotch egg like it! Served with the perfect accompaniment of a curried mayonnaise, this was honestly the best scotch egg we have ever tasted! If I could have had this for starter, main course and dessert, I would have!
We selected gourmet burgers for our main course. I made a few alternations to my selection (with the addition of haloumi and a change to sweet potato fries.) The waitress and chef were happy to make the changes with no bother at all. The Cajun chicken breast was extremely flavoursome and succulent - a great choice!
Although full up - we just had to have dessert. The chocolate badinos are delicious! Served with vanilla pod ice cream and gooey in the middle, they must be tried!
There was a great selection of wines and beers to cater for all members of our party. Local brews and wines were seen on the menu (Chapel Down for example). This enhanced the Kent country pub feel and went beautifully with the incredible menu.

So to summarise... we will definitely be back for a sixth visit. They have a beautiful garden at the back on the pub which I'm sure will be excellent for a drink on a nice summers day!

Reading these reviews I think we must have been unlucky, but i have to be honest and say the experience here wasn't wonderful. Ignoring food items which we didn't like, the rest of the food and drink was strangely/poorly cooked. Steak and chips... The chips were real potato but the oil hadn't been hit enough when they were put in, so they soaked the oil up and tasted more of oil than chip. The sirloin ... Didn't have the texture of sirloin and was tough.. They'd also been cooked in loads of pepper, almost as if someone was trying to obscure the taste/texture...

The soft drinks had no fizz, we eventually worked out it was something in the glass washer that was causing drinks to loose their fizz... Almost as odd as frying a steak in pepper!

The staff were lovely, and they seemed genuinely concerned about our comments about the food... Not concerned enough to remove anything from the bill or to offer a discount, but concerned.

The pub has a great atmosphere, and is dog friendly; but I, sorry to say we won't be back, unless it's to have a drink that comes in a bottle

Thank you kindly for writing a review about your meal with us and I would like to apologise if you left feeling unhappy with your visit. We take on board every criticism of our establishment and like to think that we deal with complaints appropriately when they arise. However we do feel that you made it very difficult for us to understand your concerns at the time, which is why we did not remove anything from the bill.
You suggested that you were unable to eat your parfait starter because you could not cope with the smell of the garlic from the prawns on the gentleman's garlic tiger prawns starter. You also mentioned that the steak was a bit tough and did not live up to the standard of steak that you get in London, but then continued to suggest that it might be because you ordered it well done. You also suggested that it didn't taste like sirloin at the time? Although I can understand that it made your visit less enjoyable than you had hoped, these are very difficult criticisms to comprehend as they don't necessarily reflect on poor food.

Thank you for giving us a try though.

Regards

This pub is very nice. They have a selection of four ales on tap that change regularly. Various ciders, wines & lagers. Food is served which is of very good quality. I can recommend the steak burger. There is a selection of board games available. There is a large beer garden with a children's play area.

Thank Nick O
