Visited at the end of June for a 3 night escape to the countryside. The hotel was easy to find in a great location in mid Wales.

Good elements:
The building is beautiful and has lots of history
The room was lovely
Good home cooked food for breakfast and in the bistro
Good range of drinks in the bar
The views were stunning

Not so good elements:
The road was busy and noisy but with the window closed you couldn't hear it.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay, the owners and all staff were great and really friendly. We will certainly be back and hope to bring good weather with us again!

My wife and I stayed at this hotel overnight on Saturday 2nd July 2011 to attend a friends wedding and what a find.

It was only after we booked that to our dismay we learned that it holds a 2-Star rating (not usually following ratings but knowing that Premier Inn are usually rated 3-Star) and did not know what to expect.

Seriously, you really cannot judge by a rating, this is easily a 4-Star hotel in a 2-Star's clothing:
The hotel is very clean and tidy; we stayed in the Snowdon room overnight which offers amazing views of the mountains and streams in the valleys; with a beautiful king-size true-wood sleigh-bed (the wife loves them) and a double-shower it is clear that a lot of care and attention has been made to ensuring the guests enjoy their stay.

We ate at the Wedding so cannot comment of the evening menu but if it is anything like the breakfast menu (included in the price) then you will surely not disappointed; the food was absolutely delicious and with a lead-time of around 10 minutes in a full-hotel.

Upon arriving back from the party, we stayed awake taking and drinking into the small-hours with a local and the hotel proprietor both of whom were very friendly and accommodating.

With friendly and accommodating staff, clean, tidy and well-proportioned rooms, a guests lounge featuring large leather sofas, books, games and an open fire, excellent quality food, a high-speed free internet connection and absolutely stunning views, there really is no other competition to this hotel that offers the best in value-for money; whether you are on a short-break, stop-over or business, stays at this hotel will not be met with disappointment.

We stayed over the last May Bank Holiday. It has been a long time since I came to thisd area and wanted to see my Auntie who lived locally. This was an amazing find. The location was fabulous, the view from the bedroom window was lovely as was the view when you had breakfast the following morning. Breakfast was beautifully cooked, meat was delicious, all credit to the butcher in Bala. Bedroom was very comfortable with some nice little touches added like refreshment tray and shower gel and soap. Would recommend this little gem and we will be coming back.

The Buckley Pines (formally Buckley Arms) is a good place to stay for exploring Snowdonia National Park area. If you like old oak furniture and creaky floorboards rather than the more impersonal hotels then this is for you. We stayed here for 2 nights as we wanted to visit Lake Vernwy before travelling down to Cardigan and I'm really pleased I found this hotel. The people who run it, Gay and Keith, make you feel very welcome as do their staff. My hubby said that he really liked a certain glass Keith had served his drink in and Keith immediately gave him one to keep! How many places would do that ? The food is homecooked by Gay and her daughter Kellie and there is plenty of it, all at reasonable prices . The evening meals are served in a sectioned off part of the bar or you can eat in the bar area. Breakfasts are served in another room with picture windows overlooking the valley. The lovely lady who served us at breakfast told us of the scenic route to take to the Lake and we were glad we took up her recommendation as the scenery was stunning. I didn't get her name but she was very helpful and willing to suggest other areas to visit. For those who can't do without their laptops they have free wifi access, just ask.
We stayed in the Snowdon room, which has a very comfortable king sized sled bed, lots of storage and great views - although I'm glad Keith agreed that it's a bit 'too pink' and one of his jobs is decorate it. The bathroom had a bath and separate shower with Dove soap and Lux shower/shampoo dispensers
When we left we felt like we were leaving old friends, we had such a nice time. Hubby said not to say anything bad about this hotel as he want to go back but there's nothing bad to say.
Keith; I hope you've got round to sorting out the small problem with the toilet and will have the room decorated for the next time we stay - because we will definitely be back to see more of this beautiful area :o).
