Stayed for 2nd time Thursday and Friday. Last visit we were very pleased. This time what a mistake.
Arrived and waited around five minutes to even get a hello be with you asap. Then told Chef on Honeymoon so no Breakfast till 9am.
That in it's self was ok. Next morning were down at 9.04 for breakfast. Eventually received our meal at 10.25.
No sorry no word whilst waiting eventually as the other people staying went to ask. We're told were waiting on the sausages. ! It does NOT take 1 1/2 hr to oven cook small sausages.
The table was extremely sticky. The milk jug had a thick yellow glob in side where the top of the handle joined. Clearly not washed properly.
. 2nd morning even after saying we had a long drive please can we have a faster breakfast and pre ordering as did the other people staying it still took 45 minutes. Food at best tepid. And same dirty milk jug.then found a 1/2 used pat of butter in the butter dish. Bed was ok. Bathroom grubby. Lots of dust visible on doors to under sink unit. The shower was mouldy shower hose leaked and brown tape on over bath shower head.
Sign out side says under new management. Well if this will be your normal standard you will fail very quickly. Oh nearly forgot. Room not serviced so restocking of tea or coffee as far to busy! Add In large trip hazard on stairs
We regularly come up to visit my daughter but will not return again to this place. Not even a bye on leaving.

Booked two night stay with daughter and 2 grandchildren. On arrival, told brusquely that chef on holiday and we would need to fix time for breakfast. Went down as agreed at 9am and were eventually served our cooked breakfast at 10.15am. As this was our only full day and we had tickets for Lightwater Valley, a chunk of our morning was wasted waiting for what turned out to be a disappointing breakfast. Apparently, they were "waiting on the sausages" having not put the oven on in time. Showerhead was so disgusting we didn't use the shower, steep stairs cluttered with trip hazards and the bedroom stank of cigarette smoke that permeated from the smokers congregated by the back door which was quite near the stairs. Not a word from the staff when my daughter dropped the key off at the bar on check out. Oh, and we didn't have "maid service". On return from our day out, told me they hadn't had chance to do the room yet - at 4.45pm?

Room Tip: Don't stay here.

Stayed overnight halfway to our next location. Had family room which was clean and spacious. Unfortunately the food in the pub had finished so couldn't eat there, but there were plenty of places nearby to eat. Really nice atmosphere in the pub and the staffs and locals were really friendly and helpful. There was a good choice of breakfast, and the full English was lovely :)
Would definitely stay again and would recommend to others. Lovely part of the country.

Popped in after playing for a church service in Crakehall.
Menu and prices looked ok, first got a starter and it was very nice, then came the Sunday dinner, we all wished we had ordered the child's portion! WOW outstanding, the food was really really good and we will be back again. Compliments to the chef and the two young girls serving!
