Popped in after playing for a church service in Crakehall.
Menu and prices looked ok, first got a starter and it was very nice, then came the Sunday dinner, we all wished we had ordered the child's portion! WOW outstanding, the food was really really good and we will be back again. Compliments to the chef and the two young girls serving!

We booked via Bookings with the filter on for pets welcome hence the booking, We sent an email via bookings to confirm two adults and one very clean dog would be staying as we do with every booking we make, we checked in and were shown to our room which appeared to be clean, spacious but basic, and at this point nothing was said about no pets allowed, just informed of the price to pay and what time breakfast was served,we went out for a walk and some food and on returning to the Pub for a drink we were told that dogs weren't allowed in the rooms and he would have to stay in the car, at this point we had just ordered drinks so couldn't drive home, the landlord didn't come out to speak to us personally just mediated through the young girl serving,(who was very pleasant) we explained that it was probably a mix up with this she went to speak to the boss and came back to say it would be ok for one night, This put a total damper on our evening, we retired early and spent the whole evening listening to the pub noise, i like to read and there wasn't even a bulb in the bedside lamp.
The pub did serve a delicious breakfast and is dog friendly in the bar which is obviously a mix up on Bookings and we pointed this out when we checked out we explained that this should have been brought to our attention on arrival that pets are not welcome.
Wouldn't stay again, ok if you are a drinker and just need a crash pad for the night.

It says check in from 12 on trip advisor but we were told 3pm ... check out was also apparently 10 am ? Had to ask for the heating to be put on 3 times because it was freezing ... breakfast was ok and the location was ideal ... rated 11 out of 14 B&Bs. .. probably about right

Stopped off for a drink after a late evening hospital visit. Decent bitter (Theakstons) and a cheerful atmosphere. Log fire smouldering in the bar of this darts-playing local, where sports generally receive a fair bit of attention. Menu (not sampled) looked unpretentious but meat is provided by a very reputable local supplier. Not particularly a tourist-orientated pub so. Much as a straightforward honest 'local'.

Called in here with family for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Traditional market town pub where the staff were polite and child friendly. We all had light-bites but our food was freshly cooked, well presented and of an excellent standard. Can't fault it and would recommend.
Don't be put off by the menu displayed outside. There is loads more to choose from on the blackboards inside.
