“Wonderful Stay”
Reviewed 26 June 2012

We moved to the Casa Del Mar after one night at another resort on Langkawi. As we hadn't booked in advance we got to try two different rooms. One being the beachfront and the other being a Junior Suite. Both rooms were lovely and for the price difference the suite was great. I did love the little garden you got with the beach view though.
I really think that everything in this hotel has been done to such a high standard it is hard to find fault with anything. The food was amazing and coming from Tokyo the portions were huge and very good value. The breakfast is also great, I loved the way that lattes etc were included in the package at no extra cost. It was these little details which the Casa did very well such as cold towels by the pool, fruit and iced water provided free of charge.
Service was excellent as well, we would definitely return and will recommend it to others.

I had high hopes of the Casa del Mar after reading all the excellent reviews on TripAdvisor, and was not disappointed in the slightest. From the moment we were greeted with a huge smile and relieved of our luggage as we stepped out of our taxi, to the moment we were handed two chilled bottles of water on our way out to leave for the airport, our stay was decorated with little touches and flawless service beyond what I have experienced in any other hotel.

The hotel is located right on the beach, and being at the top end of the beach it's much less crowded and the sea has fewer boats, jetskiers etc that you find as you walk further down away from the resort. The hotel obviously makes an effort to keep its stretch of the beach clean, and it was normal to see people out first thing in the morning tidying up for the day ahead. One small word of warning - the stretch of beach immediately outside the hotel is covered in shells, so you might want to wear flip flops to walk along it as it can be hard-going on bare feet.

Our room, Elok, was beautifully presented - not huge, but by no means small, with a comfortable bed, a lovely bathroom and nice touches like complimentary fruit and lots of complimentary water. As it's a corner room, the courtyard outside is slightly bigger than the other rooms on that row, which meant that the sunbed outside had space for two people (as far as we could tell, neighbouring rooms' sunbeds didn't). Even the turn-down service was wonderfully thoughtful - fresh beach towels, water and glasses placed beside the bed, a scented bookmark tucked inside the duvet and even relaxing music playing through the TV when we arrived back at our room each evening.

The pool area is clean, with comfortable sunloungers, both around the pool or, if you prefer, on the beach looking out to sea. Even when the pool area seemed busy, there was never any trouble getting a lounger. The staff at the pool bar would regularly bring jugs of iced water, and if you were around the pool in the middle of the day, they would come round with cold towels for everybody - the thoughtful touches just never seemed to end!

You would think it couldn't get any better, but then you have La Sal restaurant and bar. The pool bar was a great place for early evening drinks; the bar staff were friendly and a lot of fun, and would happily make you up any cocktail you want, whether it's on the menu or not, and happy hour from 5-7pm is something of an event. One evening, the hotel management hosted a drinks event in the bar with free beer and sparkling wine, which was a great way to meet more of the staff and guests. The breakfast served in the restaurant was varied and of very high quality, the bar snacks available during the day are very tasty, and we ate two evening meals in the hotel (we had only intended to eat there one, but Robert, the food and beverage manager, persuaded us in his charming way to change our plans on our final night!). The food is excellent, and it's well worth booking yourself a table on the beach - on a fine evening the sunset is lovely. It would be one of your more expensive meals, but it's worth it.

I simply cannot say enough what a wonderful place to stay the Casa del Mar is - everything is done with the comfort of the guests in mind, and I really don't think I could fault anything at all about it. If you're going to visit Langkawi, this is the only place you should even consider staying.

A group of 4 of us, 2 couples, have just come back from spending a fantastic 7 days at this wonderful Hotel. Please believe everything the great reviews say, they are all true. We have been twice before to Langkawi and stayed at the Meritus Pelangi, which is a good hotel, but the Casa is in a different league. We had pool facing rooms, which also has perfect seaviews, so were completely happy with the rooms.
It is the special touches and the staff that make this such a great experience and all the staff appear to really go out of their way to help you enjoy your time at the CDM, From the iced water on the beach or at the sunbeds by the pool, which is just next to the beach, to the free fruit, ice creams, cold cloths , to the 4 complimentary bottles of water per day in your room, all adds to the experience, The breakfast is great, with plenty of choice to suit everyone. An example of how they try to make your stay perfect is, one morning at breakfast, I had to ask twice for ketchup. It really was no big deal. However, when we were relaxing on the sunbeds a little while later, one of the breakfast staff came to find us, with 2 glasses of champagne by way of an apology, WOW, I was gobsmacked.
The restaurant is well priced with good food, and the happy hour everyday at the beach bar, is great fun and you really will have a good time and get chatting to other interesting guests from all over the world. From the cleaners, to the Managers, they were all fabulous and always had a smile and a good morning for you.We hired a car and went all around the Island, and believe me none of the so called luxurious hotels were a spot on Casa del Mar. If we ever visit Langkawi, would go back in a heartbeat. Miss it already.

Room Tip: The pool view rooms were perfect for us as they also had a complete view of the beach and sea.

We have just returned from 12 wonderful nights at the Casa del Mar and every day was an absolute delight.

We booked based on both the consistently glowing tripadvisor reviews and due to the location - right on the best beach in Langkawi, central enough to give you options to dine out of the hotel for variety and close to other amenities you may need.

Having said that, we mainly ate in the hotel's La Sal restaurant, which is also rated number one for Langkawi restaurants and is superbly run by Robert the F&B manager and his fabulous team of staff, all of whom take the time and the trouble to give you the sort of attentive, but not intrusive, service that truly makes a difference to your time there.

(Thank you Robert, I know that we spoke several times about how highly I rated your team, but wanted to thank you publicy too).

In fact the entire team at the CDM are an asset to the hotel and they will make your visit special, whether its an overnight stay or for a longer stay like our own).

Everyone has a smile and a welcome everytime they see you.

Must do's (in our opinion) whilst you are at the Casa:

1. Visit the CDM spa -great treatments at very good prices.
2. Take up the Island Hopping trip - a fantastic way to spend half a day, which includes lunch on a beautiful sandy beach on deserted island all to yourself for a couple of hours. Reception will sort it out for you. (they sort out anything that you need).
3. Eat in three great local restaurants - the Okrid Ria (chinese), the Brasserie (asian/european) - both a short walk and the Unkaisen (japanese) a RM12 taxi ride away - all superb for food quality and service
4. Definately eat in the hotel's restaurant and remember to book at table on the beach.
5. Join the poolbar "happy hour" between 5.00pm and 7.00pm for a sundowner and a bit of banter.

We had a fantastic time at the Casa del Mar, and despite wanting to use our holidays as an opportuity to see as many different parts of the world as possible, we WILL return to the Casa, and may even join the Fish Club!! (you'll find out when you get there).

Thank you to everyone at the CDM for making it a great holiday.

Paul and Carole Evans

We recently have returned from Langkawi where we stayed at the Berjaya for 3 nights, followed by Casa Del Mar for 3 nights. The Casa was AMAZING. The boutique nature meant that we got to know the staff and other guests. The room was absolutely beautiful, as was the food and cocktails. The pool was lovely, and the service of providing cold water, fruit and cold towels to you poolside was a great touch. Happy Hour was something we looked forward to each night - lots of fun with the other guests. From the reviews we knew the Casa would be great, but it honestly did go beyond our expectations!
