“Lots of Positives”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 July 2011

My wife and I (empty nesters) did a weekend getaway to Fasano with another couple who had four children. We all thoroughly enjoyed this hotel. There are many positives. The grounds are very large and host a bunch of play equipment for kids including a trampoline. The pool is large (not heated) and there is a kids' pool as well. The Sierra Silvana has a sister hotel (Hotel del Levante) which is near a beautiful beach and you can get free passes and catch a shuttle at limited times to hang out there as well (we drove and were able to park there). The Sierra Silvana is elevated and cool and very close to the Zoo Safari attraction. It is immaculately clean; the staff is friendly and helpful. There was a diverse mix of younger and older couples and families staying here. The rooms were a good size and the towels were soft. Parking and wireless internet were free. Some cons: The restaurant on the property was very good but it has limited hours (only 7:30 to 9:00 pm for dinner) and you will need to drive to go anywhere else. There is a large parking area but it was still pretty tight with events held on the weekend - an attendant helped us get parked. There is no gym. The bed is very firm (we've yet to find an Italian hotel with anything different). The free breakfast was just OK by Italian standards; you had to explicitly request fresh coffee if you didn't want the one from the machine, the fruit juice from the machine was watery, the food was nothing particularly special. Overall I recommend this location if your needs coincide with what it has to offer.

I was on a tour of Italy and this hotel was selected by the tour company because of its proximity to Alberobello and the unique Trulli houses, which we visited the next day. You either have to get here by bus, as I did, or by car. It's located in hills in the Puglia region of southern Italy, west of the Adriatic Sea. The hotel is in several buildings around a large landscaped lawn, and the grounds cover several acres. It was nice not being in a city for a change, and the surrounding area was peaceful and charming. The room was very nice, and the dinner at the restaurant was good. Overall I had a very good impression of this hotel.

We stayed 4 nights with friends recently and the hotel itself if very nice. It is in a very remote location and you have very few choices for meals outside of the hotel. The rooms were very clean and spacious. This hotel seemed to be used mostly for big tours on bus trips during the day. We ate a small meal in the hotel one evening and it was just okay. Down the street was a good restaurant that we had evening meals at. (La Grande Quercia - Ristorante Pizzeria) There was nothing to do around the hotel and the pool was too cold to use. You can go to the sister hotel by the sea to use their facilities. The only friendly staff was the bartender who was great. We had our own car but did not fancy the drive in the dark down the winding small roads to eat other than locally. We had prepaid with Expedia so we could not check out and go elsewhere. There was nothing wrong with the hotel bar the location.

This hotel is a convenient base for exploring the heel of Italy: Lecce, Ostuni, Locorotando, Bari, Brindisi, Taranto, Matera. Bedrooms and bathrooms are of an adequate size, are comfortable, quiet and clean. Reception, bar and restaurant staff are exceptionally friendly and obliging. I certainly have no hesitation in recommending the hotel.
