Took our parents here for an overnight spa break. The hotel is beautiful and set in idyllic surroundings. All the decor is tastefully done, creating a very welcoming ambiance.

Recently under new management, the hotel is striving towards supplying a quality experience. Although not quite there yet, all the staff are very friendly and helpful and seem committed to getting to the highest standards.

Our evening meal was superb, but there seems to be a need for a maître d' to oversee a smoother and higher standard of service. Clearing empty bottles, unwanted glasses etc. Not having to wait 35 minuets for per-dinner drinks. The staff were lovely but just need that little extra direction.

The spa isn’t huge but is lovely and the service there was excellent.

Overall I like the direction The Elms is headed and would highly recommend a visit.

Thank Sicros

Our first visit to The Elms in many years after hearing encouraging reports since the new, local owners took over.
Sunday lunch.....not too taxing.....oh, dear....apparently so!
We were shown into the bar....no fire, no bar staff and given the inclement weather not good. However, the fire was speedily rectified, the bar staff took a little longer. The ordering of food was similarly protracted.
The wine cellar had been depleted the previous evening so not a bottle of New Zealand SB only one bottle of wine from Mendoza...lecture from the waiter on the popularity of certain wines!
The Hereford beef and vegetables were not even lukewarm but cold, the gravy/jus barely existed.
Staff were hardly visible, apparently, they were under staffed and very tired. At one point my husband went in search and found them all chatting in the kitchen.
New owners....you desperately need to get a grip or the locals won't be coming back!

Really great day. We had lots of snow but still made the drive. Treated like family and the food was of the best quality! Would happily return. A great place for any family celebration. Should think the rooms must be luxurious will have to stay sometime.

My partner and I ate Sunday Lunch here recently.
The building itself is very nice the library bar was cosy and the lobby area spacious and homely.

The meal itself was very nice I started with a blue cheese beetroot and toffeed nut dish which was very tasty the blue cheese salt cut through by the sweetness of the beetroot and nut, my partner plumped for the leek & potato soup hearty and warm.

For mains we chose the Hereford beef and the chicken both were deemed tasty my beef was excellent and my roast potatoes crisp outside and fluffy in just how they should be.

For desert I plumped for an orange and almond cake whilst my partner went with a rhubarb and ginger pudding, again both were very good.

Service was excellent, unhurried but attentive in fact every member of staff we encountered during our visit were very helpful, polite and pleasant.

Our overall bill including drinks and service charge of 10% was just short of £80 but the whole experience and fabulous rooms decor and food made it value for money.
