“Beautiful farm house”
Reviewed 6 October 2017 for a stay in September 2017

This is our second time that we have stayed at Le Mesnil Gonfroy, & really have enjoyed ourselves. We have a disabled daughter in a wheelchair & it is really wheelchair friendly. The pool is very nice & lovely to sit round if weather is nice.
We had a few BBQ's this time & had a lovely relaxing time round the large dining room table celebrating one of our party's birthday. We went to a couple of beaches which was very nice & to learn the history of the war invasions. Hoping to come back another time as we all loved the farmhouse.

“A stunning Normandy farmhouse, complete with heated pool.”
Reviewed 29 August 2017 for a stay in August 2017

A spacious, clean and well maintained large farmhouse in which to spend a wonderfully relaxing holiday in the heart of Normandy. Lots of bedrooms, lots of bathrooms, lots of space generally. We have no criticisms and nothing but praise for Le Mesnil Gonfroy and its very thoughtful owners.

“Super Family holiday to celebrate my 70th birthday!”
Reviewed 11 May 2017 for a stay in April 2017

We were very pleased with this large comfortable old French farmhouse which we booked for over 2 weeks to celebrate my 70th birthday. Most of my immediate Family came to stay for various durations, although all were present for my actual birthday; everyone fell in love with the place. Highlights of the farmhouse itself included lots of space, very comfortable beds, perpetual hot water, a wonderful log fire and English television. The gardens were delightful and the location is unbelievably peaceful and quiet. The heated swimming pool is of a decent size, and even in April the water temperature was acceptable; we also enjoyed the table tennis! There are lots of interesting places to visit in Normandy, especially if one is prepared to travel a little bit. We particularly enjoyed Bayeux (highlight the tapestry), a lot of the D-Day venues (such as Arromanches and the American Military Cemetery), Mont St. Michel, and Falaise Castle where William the Conqueror was born (outstanding audio-visuals). We tried several of the recommended restaurants and they were all good - but the jewel in the crown was L'Auberge de l'Abbaye, where we ate twice and had a private room for my 70th birthday meal. The food and service were fantastic, and we intend to go there again! Overall, a wonderful base and area for a holiday which we would strongly recommend.

“Beautiful home from home”
Reviewed 2 April 2017 for a stay in October 2016

Beautiful house.
We went in late October so the weather was getting cold but we were in time for the heat swimming pool.

The house is superbly equipped for the 9 of us and the open fire in the evening was an added bonus. There are games, books, outside equipment and all the items you could possibly need for the kitchen.

If your going I would recommend the ferry and it was a 4-5 hour drive from the tunnel but if you do it in stages its not that bad.

Amazing!

“Great family Christmas!”
Reviewed 30 December 2016 for a stay in December 2016

We stayed here over the Christmas week this year. We were a family group of 10, including 3 kids age 4, 5 & 7, plus my disabled mother. The house is really stunning, a traditional Normandy farmhouse that has been beautifully restored into a family home.

The downstairs is vast, with a number of connecting rooms - hallway into dining room, into lounge, into kitchen, into kitchen/breakfast room. Loads of room to find peace or for the kids to charge around (!).

My mother also appreciated being able to scoot around without concerns of steps, so that was one less headache! Also the downstairs bedroom was perfectly suited for my parents & the bathroom thoughtfully laid out.

Upstairs was split into 2, I guess originally 2 buildings knocked into 1. This means that there are 2 staircases. In the hallway you access what is more of a kids bedroom with 3 single beds and a double, plus a pull out sofa bed. However, the bathroom is at the bottom of the stairs. Not an issue for my kids (we lifted the little one each night just incase!), but could be for kids getting up in the middle of the night looking for the toilet. The other staircase is accessed from the lounge, there are 2 doubles and 2 twin bedrooms, an ensuite bathroom and a family bathroom. Nice size, bright rooms. Really comfortable mattresses, and the duvets and pillows were clean & fresh. Although if you like big fluffy pillows, bring your own.

The lounge was stunning, big open log fire that didn't smoke, which we enjoyed every evening, even though the central heating kept the house very warm! Big thank you to Estelle for providing a Christmas tree, the kids were super excited! The 'formal' dining room was perfect for Christmas lunch. The kitchen breakfast room was great too and although it looks small in the photos, it does seat 10 fairly easily for more intimate lunches or dinners. The kitchen was well equipped with pretty much everything you could ask for and more!

The house was situated off a quite lane so it was really peaceful and lots of walks without too many cars or tractors. Hambye itself had a great butcher and bakery, but we tended to head towards Granville / Gavray for bigger supermarket shops.

Would thoroughly recommend this house. It felt like home, and we also chose it because it wasn't too fussy with over decorated furniture or china decorations etc, so we could relax with the children around!
