Our usual holiday is a self-catering holiday complex somewhere near a beach for the kids, so I was a bit unsure about booking a villa out in the countryside, even with a pool. I guess providing this review is my way of eating humble pie. The house itself was lovely, just as it looks in the pictures and though I hate to use the phrase “home from home” because I read it so often in the reviews when we were deciding where to book, it really was. Everything we could have wanted was provided at the house. The pool was great, too chilly for me but the kids loved it and were mesmerised by the spouting dolphins. The playground in the centre of the village was a bit scruffy but there was a much better one in the little village two minutes away and there were Spanish children there too which was nice.
We really enjoyed walking round the local towns and buying our food from the type of small corner shop I remember as a child. We visited the recommended eateries and loved “Oasis” in Pinoso. I would recommend eating there just for the experience. The Menu del Dia has about six choices for each course and the staff really attentive and made a big fuss of the children.
On one of the cooler days we all went for a walk in the Pilar National Park which is beautiful and on another day we visited Sax to have a look at the castle, although we didn’t go in. Hubby had promised me a visit to the beach during our second week stay just to satisfy my need for a bit of hustle and bustle, but by the end of the first week I was so used to the idea of my having own pool to lounge about at and the peace and quiet of just sitting around enjoying that views that we actually didn’t bother going – much to the surprise of the rest of my crew.
I really would recommend this villa, you will not be disappointed.
