“Serene Stay”
Reviewed 5 October 2015 for a stay in June 2015

My wife, two young children, and myself stayed here for 6 nights in late June. We greatly enjoyed our stay and the cabin was very much what we were looking for: a quaint place to stay away from it all. While the cabin is small and generally basic it had plenty of room for the four of us, all the amenities that we needed (as we generally prepared most of our own meals), and made a great home base to explore the area and mountains.

What makes this place so wonderful is the natural setting of the grounds, immediate area, and larger region. The girls favorite part of the cabin stay was stream on the property. The girls loved wondering down the stream with the two dogs exploring for critters and swimming. The property itself is quite beautiful and well landscaped to offer several areas for either privacy or relaxation and for the kids they have a swing set and trampoline. Right out of the back door of the cabin is a nice trail that takes about an hour walk to the village and just walking down the local road is great.

For us, we felt the cabin was perfectly balanced in location between isolation and proximity to things we wanted to see on the region. We spent two days doing some amazing hikes and seeing local castles ( Le château de Montségur and Château de Roquefixade) which are very accessible and took a day to see Carcossonne and local villages. Foix is a 25 minute drive and offers many restaurants; however one of the best meals we had in the entirety of our 3 week trip around France was right in the village near the cabin; Chez Victor is a must do. Groceries and staples are readily accessible in about a 10 minute drive.

Paula and Ram were great hosts. They did a great job of offering advice/ suggestions and making sure our needs were met, while not at all interrupting or intruding on our privacy. The reservation process was very easy.

The only consideration that I might mention is that the cabin my not be ideal for small children. Both sleeping areas are up steep stairs. There is a fold out bed on the lower floor that we used for the kids and they were old enough to come up the stairs safely if they needed something, so there was no problem for us. However, if I had younger child that might need more attention throughout the night, the set up may not be ideal.

With that said, we loved our stay at the cab in and would certainly recommend it.

Management Response
8 Jul 2015
Hello
Thank you for your positive comments and continued visits. Just wanted to make clear to others that free wifi is available on request.
Guests can choose not to use it and in that case it will be turned off this is in recognition that a growing number of people are sensitive to such things. The mobile phone network can sometimes be accessed in the garden but does not enter the house.
Hope to see you again soon
warmest regards
Paula

“An incredibly relaxing stay”

Our stay at the Tourne cottage was an awesome experience. The property's location in the foothills is fantastic - lots of good hiking and sights to see nearby, and just enough off the beaten path to allow you to truly relax without being isolated. The cottage and house themselves were also very inviting, and the grounds around the house leading up to a small stream were perfect to unwind in - our four year-old could have spent the entire week just exploring it. The owners were incredibly friendly and accommodating, and we enjoyed spending time with them - the meals they cook are amazing, and highly recommended. We'll be back for sure!

“Table d'hote is a must”
Reviewed 13 July 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We were invited to stay the night at Tourne with friends who had rented the gite for a week. Our friends had requested with the owners Paula and Ram that we should try the Table d'hote that was offered. It was a wonderful experience for 18 euros per person that we won't forget. All produce so fresh and mainly from their garden. Try it!

“Perfect location to relax”
Reviewed 13 July 2014 for a stay in June 2014

We arrived at this beautiful little stone cottage by a magical creek after a very long flight / drive from Australia . Within minutes of us putting our suite cases inside we were in relaxation mode. Both our two little girls 6/8 loved it there making friends with Paula and Rams son Jiva playing in the shallow creek and exploring the beautiful gardens. They have a pet cat n dog who came to visit each morning. And would join you on a walk up the lane.Just sitting in the garden listening to the birds and the creek was just what I needed to get myself into holiday mode. The cottage had everything we needed for our stay. Thankyou Paula and Ram Jiva
