Stayed her with my wife on the way back from Extremadure to Malaga airport. The is a wonderfully authentic resatored 15th century monastery turned into an outstanding hotel but kept authentic at the same time. The restaurant has desrevedly won several awards. We had 2 of the best steaks ever . The most expensive wine on the list is still extremely reasonable at 23 Euros and was of the very highest quality ( Matarromera Crianza ). To finish off a great experience the service was outstanding and the lady waiter was very professional and so charming.

We traveled to this charming hotel for a friend's wedding. Palma del Río is a small town approximately 1 hour from Sevilla. It is a small town, but rich with history and close proximity to Sevilla and Córdoba.

The highest rating hotel in Palma is 3 stars and the bride recommended Monasterio or Hotel Castillo. We chose Monasterio due to the history and charm, and we were not disappointed.

To begin, the amenities may be 3 star but the service of the staff- Carmen, María and Ana were 6 stars! They were extremely helpful and accommodating even before we arrived, helping to coordinate a taxi to pick us up at the train station and take us to the hotel (5 euros). Carmen helped us to select authentic restaurants for dinner and was sure to give us accurate directions as we walked everywhere.

The hotel is historic and old and with that it should be expected that sometimes older building experience issues- one being hot water. Due to this, we changed from room 10 to room 7 after our first night because there wasn't hot water in room 10. It turned out to be great because we much preferred the set up and size of bathroom of room 7. On our last night (we stayed a total of 4), we had an early morning transfer to the airport and were showering at night when we realized once again we didn't have hot water. We didn't want to have to move rooms again, so María was so kind to find us a room with hot water where we showered- room 24. This room was smaller with not pool or garden view.

The staff was wonderful and accommodating despite some hiccups with hot water they ensured we were happy and well taken care of.

For room selection, try to request room 7, it was a large room, large bathroom with 2 sinks, tub, and large shower. There was a lovely garden and pool view.

We would definitely stay here again. Thank you for your hospitality!

The Monastere is charming and the service pleasant , All the rooms are different I only tried room 13 and The bed was not great but it had such a pretty bath room and many small windows . The food is fresh and well prepared with a typical spanish breakfast wich is not overwhelming but good according to spanish standard . The garden is absolutely beautiful with a nice pool for these HOT days in Andalusia .

Room Tip: Room 13 has lots of small windows a very pretty bathroom with a great view

We stayed here two nights on a cycling tour. Palma del Rio is a small town in a farming region, and not much to do in the town. But the Monasterio is a good place to stay in converted monastery. We had a very large room (9) - an old monks cell - with a bathroom that was larger than some European hotel rooms. Beds were not the best, sagged a bit but were OK. Heat and air conditioning lacking, but the weather was such we could just open the windows.
We ate in the restaurant one night and it was very good and reasonably priced. Not many options in town.
Breakfast was included and was substantial and well appointed, good variety and my wife's Gluten allergy was fully accommodated without hesitation.
Highly recommend this as the place to stay if you are going to Palma.

Room Tip: Historical building, ask to see the room first if concerned about size, location or condition as all are unique.

We stayed at this hotel on our bike tour and we were given one of the worst rooms in the hotel (we saw photos of other people's rooms which looked much nicer). The bed sagged in the middle, pillows were frayed with no pillowcases and the showers curtain was a wisp of plastic. Yuck! To give this hotel 3 stars is due to the historical significance of it being a former monastery. Palma del Rio is like a small poor town in old dirty Mexico and the only reason the Nike your stays here is its between Seville and the next stop. The food was mediocre but it was a little better than the number one restaurant in town. Skip Palma del Rio if you can and definitely refuse room 108!
