Hotel St. George is directly across from the tourist info office on the Main Street of Einsiedeln. The Kloster is only a few steps away from the property. Aside from the hotels restaurant there are several dining options just steps away.
The room and bathroom was small but perfectly suitable. There was a sauna and steam room available to guests.
The breakfast was lovely with warm and cold options.
There are a few parking spaces available directly behind the hotel so if you are with a car I suggest to book a space before arrival. Otherwise there are nearby parking options in the town.
Check-in and check-out were quick and easy.

LOCATION: Hotel ST-GEORG is located at Hauptstrasse 72, about 6-8 mins’ walk from Einsiedeln Bahnhof. It is conveniently situated near Kloster Einsiedeln – the Lady Chapel with its famed Black Madonna draws pilgrims from all over the world. Other places of interest are also easily accessible (approx. 5-10 mins) on foot: Diorama Bethlehem; Panorama Kreuzigung Christi; Lebkuchenmuseum Goldapfel; Museum Fram; etc. Einsiedeln Tourism Office is just a few steps away from the Hotel.

ROOM: Standard Single Room was compact in size but well-appointed with functional decor. Quite a tight space but they’ve managed to squeeze in all necessities for a comfortable stay: single bed; low bedside table & reading lamp; wall-mounted flat-screen TV; small, narrow table with desk lamp & chair; small cupboard with shelving & safe-deposit box; mini clothes rail & wall hooks; luggage rack; stool; and tea-making facilities.

Bed was clean & comfy with fresh linen but pillows were the usual soft, floppy type that didn’t offer much support. Bedside table was set very low such that you have to bend over awkwardly to set down or pick up anything.

Windows look out onto back lanes and the rear of surrounding buildings. Rooms situated at the back of Hotel apparently have similar view.

BATHROOM: of good size, clean & well-lit. Furnished with the usual: mirror over wash basin; hairdryer; shower stall; and toilet. Adequate provision of clean bath linen and toiletries: liquid hand soap; wall-dispenser of body wash; box of tissue & toilet rolls.

Shower stall has a strange pothole with clear glass – this violated user’s sense of privacy but allows for TV-viewing from the shower! Steady supply of hot water & good water pressure in the shower.

F&B: room rate is inclusive of daily breakfast which is served 6:45-10:00 am in the Breakfast Room (7:30-10:30 am on Sundays & Public Holidays). The buffet breakfast comprises: selection of bread, cereals & mueslis; jams & butter; assorted cheese & cold cuts; natural & flavoured yoghurt; soft-boiled eggs; assorted cut fruits & juices; coffee, tea & hot chocolate.

The on-site Restaurant serves Italian cuisine and is open for Lunch & Dinner Service.

SERVICE: Reception Desk is usually manned from 6 am till 11 pm and staff are English-speaking. Service rendered by Reception and F&B Staff was satisfactory but generally lacking in warmth & enthusiasm.

Housekeeping Service was rather slipshod: visible litter on floor; teabags & sugar sachets not replenished; one end of curtains had come undone and was dangling off its track yet this was never fixed throughout my stay...

FACILITIES: Free WiFi is available throughout the property; password to access the secured network is issued upon Check-In. Upper floors are accessible via Lift. Laundry & Dry-Cleaning Service is available (similar charges as at other Swiss hotels).

Gym situated on 2nd floor has a small selection of fitness equipment and is open from 6 am till 10 pm. Spa with sauna & steam bath is open for guest use from 3 pm till 11 pm. You may also contact Reception to arrange for a massage.

In SHORT: Einsiedeln does not have that many accommodation options for visitors, Hotel ST-GEORG is worth considering in view of its convenient location, well-appointed rooms & comprehensive facilities. However, the lacklustre service was a major letdown.

Room Tip: Back Rooms have NO View but are Quieter than Front Rooms overlooking Hauptstrasse.

Stayed for 5 days starting June 28th.
St. Georg is a nice hotel in the middle of Einsiedeln, Switzerland. It's a nice small town with an old monastery that's worth the trip there to visit. Lots of nice hiking trails to get in some amazing views of the countryside.
We came to Switzerland for a family reunion in Horgen where we'd made arrangements with an AirBNB. Those plans fell through, so we ended up here... a little bit away from the reunion, but not terrible. The hotel is right on the main street so it's easy to get to.
The staff is friendly and spoke English well, although I was constantly trying to improve my Swiss German. The rooms are need and clean... if a bit small.
Breakfast was included with our stay and it was really quite good. Nice selection of breads, fruit, yogurts, soft boiled eggs and nice cheeses and sliced coldcuts. They had an excellent coffee machine too. Swiss coffee has to be the best I've ever had. Made me buy a Nespresso machine last time I was here.
There is no A/C, which didn't matter as the nights we were there, the air was cool and crisp, however, there is an elevator and free wifi.

Room Tip: No A/C, so if it's a hot spell it could be uncomfortable

The price for this small Hotel is very reasonable, everything is expensive in Switzerland! It has a great Location in the small town of Einsiedeln. The rooms are modern and clean, a bit small for two people with two suitcases . I have to say the Breakfast is excellent for a 3 star Hotel.

We have stayed at this Hotel before and posted review. On our last trip we saw that they were offering under the name "Hotel St. Georg Ferienwohnung one bedroom apartments with fully equipped kitchens. Ferienwohnug translates to self catering holiday rental. The apartment was spacious with a dining area, sitting area-tv and fully equipped kitchen. The beds were in a separate small bedroom. The price was less than a hotel room. It provided a wonderful option, especially after having stayed in hotel type rooms for much of the trip. You have the benefits of your own apartment but it is located within the hotel. You have a front desk for check in and assistance, access to the hotel breakfast if you wanted to include that and the hotel restaurant which as a guest you receive a 10% discount. There are grocery stores nearby and it was easy and affordable to pick up what we wanted for breakfasts and made a couple dinners in.
