“Beautiful hotel, great concept, but Dirty and not worth the money”
Reviewed 18 November 2011

The architecture and setting is fantastic. The problem is the maintenance, it is dirty and it doesn't seem to be managed well. Even the bathroom in the lobby is as clean as your average sit down restaurant in town, avoid touching anything. After going to the pool after we checked in, we went back to our room to find two fresh rat droppings and a larger feces that I am not sure what creature created it. When I asked the staff if that was normal, they didn't speak enough English to understand. Also, there was no hot water for the shower, which if I was staying longer I would just make sure to shower during the hot afternoon rather than in the evening. That being said, there aren't many options in padang bai, but the town is worth visiting. Very charming along the little beach.

The best thing abt bloo lagoon is that it's far away from the crowds of kuta...it's not as hot here as in kuta...it's made up of different furnished bungalows so it's like staying in someone's home...the balcony had an amazing view of the sea...I almost didn't want to go for my dives n just stay in !! The restaurant was pretty good, mostly an Aussie menu. The tiny 2 bed spa is pretty good value for money. It's a walk downhill to the shops n restaurants, but I didn't see that many which is good if u like it more quiet. I'd come here again just to chill out n relax on the balcony n the smallish pool...which was
More suitable for kids than for any real swimming...

I had read the very different reviews on tripadvisor before, seems there are only very good or very bad ones. We got a personal recommendation though, mentioning that Bloo Lagoon is a new experience and we should try it.
I am glad we did.
The location is just amazing, when we came to our villa (no. 5) I could say nothing but "Wow". The view was so nice, we loved the openness, the surroundings, the individual villas, the pool.
Staff was always very friendly. They helped us removing a not-so-much-liked "guest" (spider) from our living room.
It is not for people who like conventional, international hotels, but if you like living in nature it is just beautiful.

The eco resort lies beautifully on the slopes of the hills above Padang Bai. It consists of 25 villa's, all differently designed. We stayed in villa 3, a lovely designed half open house without windows and a view over the ocean. But that's about it.
If 'eco' means dirty rooms and poor service it will definitely not be sustainable. Holes in the mosquito net, a shower that could not make up it's mind to give hot or cold water, if any, and we have never ever experienced more unfriendly restaurant staff during our trips all over the world.

We recently stayed in a small villa (no. 20) and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bloo Lagoon. In particular, the view you wake up to every day. It really is breathtaking.

I would suggest to anyone that doesn't like noise when they're trying to get to sleep, to bring earplugs but really, the sound of the frogs and bugs at night can be soothing.

We really enjoyed the food at Bloo Lagoon. It was very tasty and well priced.

The pool and surrounds are beautiful. We enjoyed a couple of lazy afternoons in the sun with a book.

Bloo Lagoon Beach at the bottom of the hill is fantastic. We had a great time snorkelling there and saw and abundance of fish and coral.

I'm not sure why people have complained about Bloo Lagoon. Perhaps they came with pre-conceived ideas of a 5 star luxury resort. I think in it's own unique way it's better than 5 star luxury. It's real, it's a real getaway and it certainly leaves you feeling like you've had a break when it's time to leave.
