If you want a true taste of Italy, this is your place. We didn't intend to stay in Tuscany on our 14 day trip to Italy, but after seing the photos of this beautiful country house, we changed our plans. A few emails later, and we had not only made our reservations here but we had also made new friends. Jayne and Francesco were wonderful hosts and introduced us to life in the Italian countryside.
The apartment/home is a piece of history and has been lovingly updated and restored. It's like staying in a storybook. The views from the bedroom rooms are just breathtaking. Such a joy to wake up to the sounds of birdsong and the sweet country air! Oh and the fireflies at night put on a light show like we've never seen. The beds were comfy and although we didn't cook much while there, we had a great kitchen too (no oven, but it's not necessary.) The bathroom was so well designed, modern and very clean. And yes, there was WiFi, much to my 13-year old's relief. (He loved it here!)
We made several day trips around the area (to Castel del Rio and Dozza) and to La Spezia en route (via train) to the Cinque Terre for an overnight stay. Florence and Bologna are both an easy and beautiful 1.5 hour drive. (We rented our car in Bologna.) But our favorite day was the day it rained. We walked to nearby Bar Miranda for cappuccino and breakfast and spent the day reading and relaxing with the sound of the rain on the roof. Everyone needs a day like that. Perfecto! We really hated to leave and we will definitely stay here again!
