A nice pub with a great ambience

Efficient and courteous service

Interesting choice on the menu. The Chilli Venison was really great

Overall a great evening. Prices are a bit steep especially for deserts

Great for a special occasion

We had decided to be brave and went into a new to us pub in the area. Oh dear - so we beat a hasty retreat to be here. It is impossible to fault - the Dressed Crab salad was wonderful as was the Pork with Black pudding.
The ambience is lovely too - and I guess the garden would be wonderful - but not in March.
This is just wonderful - do try it. It is not cheap but then the food is top rate

Visited on Saturday for the umpteenth time.
New menu but food as always was great.
I had the pork which I would thoroughly recommend- the accompanying black pudding, apple and Stilton bonbon was wonderful.
Followed up by the tiramisu, which was good but I probably wouldn't order it again, not sure if the lemon curd really went with it.
I can't wait to return (and have the pork again!)

We went for an evening meal last night and my husband had the hake. The menu said it came with potatoes. We didn’t realise this actually meant 2 small boiled potatoes which only just made it worth placing plural on the menu. The service was ok to start off with but after our mains we waited about 20 mins and then had to go and ask for the bill. This was later on after the early Friday evening rush so there are no excuses. It does seem as though you are treated as second best if they reserve you a table in the bar area.
