Owner description: Spaceport is a space themed visitor attraction located just across the River Mersey at Seacombe Ferry Terminal, Wirral. Space and space travel is imaginatively explored in this fun, interactive attraction.Included among the intergalatic exhibits is a space dome theatre, Explorer 1 simulator ride, special exhibitions, cafe and a shop.

The space section is as described in my headline. Things that we accept but find difficult to visualise, like the moon's monthly cycle are simply demonstrated and lots of intriguing facts are displayed. It puts us all into true context, very small and insignificant! Good value for money, especially when the weather is doubtful. One or two models were not working, not good but did not detract from the pleasure and overall value.
Upstairs, the Wallace and Gromit exhibition, although I am a fan, did not float my boat. Too many running children, rapid pressing of push-buttons and mis-use of good demonstration equipment for my taste and, I really do love children!
Upstairs and downstairs did not seem to compliment each other, in my mind.

We bought the 3 for 1 deal ( £15 / adult ) from Mersey Ferries. We spent 2 hours in the Spaceport. The planetarium is fantastic. Well worth a visit.

If there is not a special show then it is only good for a one hour walk around.

Spent a day here with a primary school group and have to say NEVER AGAIN. The day started with a film show which was well received by the children but this was followed by what was described in the literature as a half hour rocket workshop. It was actually a young man reading from the screen of a laptop at such a speed that you could not understand what he was on about and the children switched off immediately.

The down stairs of the museum was very dimly lit and the children flitted from exhibit to exhibit with little or no understanding of what was on show, there was little information and what there was was far from child friendly. Upstairs we enter the world of Wallace and Grommet! a loose link to space through the films. this was quite a fun area but not sure of the true relevance.

To eat our lunch we had to leave the museum and walk to the ferry terminal where the children were crushed into a small room and were told to sit on the floor despite there being chairs available! Toilet facilities were poor in the terminal for school groups so we had to return to the museum to use the toilets in any number.

The shop was small and sadly lacking in pocket money items. In short avoid this venue.

This is an interesting attraction (if you like that sort of thing) however not worth the full admittance fee, combine it with the ferry ticket or do as we did and pay with Tesco clubcard vouchers. A lot of the interactive exhibits didn't work. We liked the Wallace and Gromit exhibition which has only been there since the end of March, feel without this it would be for us sadly lacking appeal. Space dome exhibit very good. Good attraction to get out of the cold for an hour or so.
