“Lovely village location - not like most modern chain hotels”
Reviewed 12 August 2011

This property is quiet and pleasant right by a village cricket ground. It is an old inn that has been extended and converted. There is a lovely garden with a fishpond. The rooms have the usual purple Premier Inn decor but are more spacious than average, and the restaurant and bar are in the old building. Service at dinner was very good even though the hotel was crowded. My only minor grumble is that the hotel, like all Premier Inns, charges for wi-fi.

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing the cricket ground as they are quieter and you have a grandstand view if a...

Good location. Don't be put of by appearances. This is a very clean, comfortable and friendly hotel. Looks a little old and run down from the outside. Rooms are clean, very quiet (overlooking village cricket green) had a great night sleep at this Premier Inn.

This hotel is basic, there are no frills, just a bed and a chair but the beds are huge and the rooms clean. I did miss a box of tissues though! For breakfast you have to walk a short walk across to the pub next door which was Ok.
I found the bed very hard and the pillows like concrete so I had difficulty sleeping. When I mentioned this to staff they put a duvet on top of the matress for me which did help a bit. When I still had a bad nights sleep because of very hard pillows they said they would try to find a new pillow for me but it did not happen so perhaps there weren't any. At least they were helpful. Having said this it appears the hotel have some scheme that states: We are so sure you will have a comfortable nights sleep we will give you your money back if you do not'. Now although I complained there was no mention of money back so I will write to the manager and see what happens.
I have to say the hard bed and pillows did not affect my husband so it may just be me that felt uncomfortable! All in all the staff were cheerful and did try to help.

Room Tip: I believe they are all te same!

We booked the hotel well in advance so managed to get the special £29 rate. That said had we paid more for the room we woud still have been delighted with what we got for our money.

The hotel whilst looking strange from the outside was clean and comfortable and in a relaxing location. Another bonus is a nice pub/restaurant attached which doubles as the breakfast location in the morning.

All in all a great stay.
