I visited Extremescape with my escape partner in crime having exhausted most escape rooms in central Manchester. First of all - what a lovely setting for an escape room! Having only previously done ones in the middle of a city, the scenic location was a instant plus! We were greeted by Jess who, along with her partner run the rooms and she explained the concept of the room - you were searching for bags of gold to help you enter a lost Mayan Tomb. The first room we entered was a bit of a warm up and was solved easily but then the real fun starts. WOW the themeing was just incredible - not wanting to give spoilers but there were real props that you would expect in a mine and that were used in the process of escaping! The second room, being the tomb, was equally atmospheric and well designed. There was a really good mix of puzzles - maths, physical, logic and the like. We escaped with 10 mins to spare (from a 90min timer) and had a few clues along the way that I felt were delivered in a very timely fashion - just when we started to panic! What we really loved was that both Jess and her husband (Graham i think?) chatted to us after the game for what seemed like ages about their love for Escape rooms and giving us recommendation for others we can try - you cant fake that kind of passion. We will be back as soon as for their other room, Pirate Ship and their new one Viking when it is open.
