Since the choice of western style hotels in Andong is very limited, this may be as good as it gets. The hotel is clean and the rooms are of an adequate size. The hallways are dark with only the red light from the room numbers. Apparently it's a hotel used by locals "by the hour". And it feels it. The rooms have fluorescent ceiling light only, no table lamps. The bathroom has a tub and shower but no shower curtain. In fact, there's one shower head outside the tub with a drain in the middle of the bathroom. There's a big used bar of soap and a full tube of toothpaste. The towels are hand towel size. There is a small fridge and hot/cold water dispenser. And a PC.
The mattresses are beyond hard. The TV controls are in Korean only.
But we just found it depressing. I just don't think there are any other options in this town.
We found the town itself to be quite charming.

The hotel is located in a walking distance from the train station and the walking street with some restaurants and markets. A big supermarket is very close, too. The hotel is meant to be a "Motel" but many guests stay as a regular visit. Freshly brewed coffee and a microwave is located in the lobby at all times. The rooms are quite spacey and our bathroom came with a tub. There is a PC and a big TV screen in the room ans well as a water machine. Free juice is available in a small fridge in the rooms. The bus stop to the main bus station and Hahoe Village is nearby.

This is a place for locals, since staff speak just about no other language but Korean. It is very conveniently located to the outdoor market of Andong, the little museum, and public transport to Hahoe, the UNESCO cultural village (and why else would you be here?). The hotel has everything you need (and great wifi), but no eating options. They're not necessary because there is ample street food a few steps away. The beds are traditional wood. The staff coped pretty well with a male couple in one bed, although they were confused at first- but got over it. (Probably just thought we were cheap.) Stay here for a different kind of cultural experience.

This is really a "Love hotel" with condoms and woman inner cleanser provided as part of the shampoo package. Strange feeling if you are staying here as mother and daughter. But also good for a good laugh!
All the already mentioned advantages of the hotel are true (spacious, good location etc). Only real disadvantage are the beds which give you the feeling of sleeping on a wooden plank.

Within a few minutes walk of the train station (Main Street facing the station and about 2 blocks up on the left) and very close to the restaurant district. Large room with free water dispenser (hot and cold) and free soft drinks. Is a Korean love hotel but that just means a larger more luxurious room however the mirror on the ceiling is a step too far! Staff friendly but little English. No breakfast facilities ... But lots of shops close by including a large Homeplus department store. Was difficult to ensure the door was closed the first time but it is fairly simple in the end.
