A large statue which is stunning to look at. Worth a visit to see this reminder that peace is needed throughout the world

We were able to see a memorial service here during the Normandy commemoration, which was so touching. They had bagpipes and a beautiful tribute. I would highly recommend seeing it.

In any place of historical military significance there are well meaning reminders of peace and hope. This one was gifted by the Chinese. It's outsized and stands in a little garden triangle at the end of the village. While Pointe du Hoc was very busy when I visited, the World Peace Memorial was deserted. Unsurprisingly.

Not much more to say really... its a peace statue gifted to the community by the Chinese. Why in Grandcamp-Maisy, and why on such a scale is not explained! Nonetheless it is impressive!
