Kamiya Bar is a very old established place in Asakusa. You must visit if you are staying locally. There are several floors but the main bar is at ground level. As you go in, you go to the counter and choose your drink, and food, if you want some. There is an English menu and models in a case to help you choose. When you have paid, you take your ticket which is collected by the waiter. Any more drinks you can get direct from the waiter.
Seating is around big tables, so it's easy to get into a conversation. I had quite a long talk with a Japanese man who barely spoke English, and I don't speak Japanese! It's that sort of place. People come here to relax and unwind, and I found it cosy and friendly.
Most people have a beer and a glass of wine, which I think is mainly plum wine, or the speciality of the house, Denkibran. You must try this. It's a cocktail of various things supposedly based on brandy. Quite nice. There is also food, either bar snacks or a meal. I enjoyed the fried mackerel, very crisp and fresh.
