Unique shrimp based stock. If you like ramen, must try. Famous for tsukemen (dipping ramen), the noodles are much thicker

Absolutely disgraceful service. TO THE CHEF I hope you are proud of yourself having taken our money and us leaving your restaurant hungry after an hour and a half wait. Shameful.

People with shellfish allergies avoid this restaurant. All others who want to try or love tsukemen (dipping noodles) you must head on over to this small 15 seat restaurant on a small side street in Shinjuku. We got there on Sunday at 11:10am and waited in line for about 30-40 minutes. They opened at 11am. Boy, was it worth the wait. I will be going back next year when I make it back to Japan. Absolutely delicious!!!

Came here on the recommendation of a friend, who described eating this as experiencing firework celebrations on National Day. I would say one would like this if he/she is into food with a heavy overtone. The shrimp taste is very apparent in the dippings, and is delicious with the first few bites. However, if one is a small eater, it is next to impossible to slurp up the entire bowl of heavy duty noodles and enjoy the rich dippings to the end. Though I have observed that the local Japanese sitting around me (including ladies) were all able to finish the whole bowl of noodles, and some even ordered an additional bowl of rice!

I ordered the original version but I do see that the tomato version is also very popular with the masses. More girls than guys ordered the tomato-based version though and it comes with a dollop of pesto and a slice of baguette. Looks delicious too except for the layer of oil on the dippings...

I learnt from Tabelog that (つけ麺 五ノ神製作所) Gonokami Seisakujo was very popular for tsukeman. The location is quite hidden at a back lane. It is just a road across fromTakashimaya Shinjuku. The shop closes at 21:00. If you really want to try, please come earlier since it normally takes at least 30 mins for the queue. I ordered the classic shrimp tomato soup with cold ramen. The "ramen" with cabbage was served separately with the soup. The soup was thick and full of shrimp aroma. If you order a small portion, you can choose another choice of top-up like "onsen egg".
