“Nice experience, nice location, nice intro to Japan”
Reviewed 23 March 2012

Stayed in the hotel for about a week. Rooms were as I had imagined them, following other reviews I had read, basic but comfortable. Nothing over the top, but if you are out and about all day you don't really need it, so for me they were just fine. Bathrooms were a real treat, as all bathrooms are in Japan. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Location of the hotel is a big plus, next to Shinjuku station which is a world in and of itself, next door to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Offices, much to see in West Shinjuku and if you can figure out the maze that is Shunjuku station you have East Shinjuku on the other side, which is wonderful at night. Also, if you have a garden view on a clear day you can see Mt Fuji. Overall, had a lovely experience with them and wouldn't mind staying there again. Also, make sure to try the Japanese breakfast the hotel offers, yummy!

Room Tip: Garden views are worth it

This hotel, while not as fancy as the Park is in a great location and the service is fantastic. Great American style breakfast for those long for home!

Entering the Hyatt Regency one has the impression of a modern cathedral- modern chandeliers hanging down from three our four stories above with balconies looking down opening to restaurants and shops.

This feeling gave way to dismay as I walked into my sleeping room decorated in dismal brown with a small dirt smeared window looking out onto the Tokyo skyline. Desk was small with absolutely no plugs (not a single one!) available- I was forced to unplug a lamp near the bed for my laptop, another two plug outlets near the door for my blackberry and Ipad, and my e-reader charged (yes, I know too many appliances) charging in the bathroom. Wifi connection never came on nor worked- fortunately my Ipad was functional but I am going to probably cringe at the roaming charges.

Compared to the workout facility across the street at the Hilton Shinjuku (I stayed here because my colleagues had made reservations) they are minimal, four to five treadmills, two ellipticals and weight machines (three or four) crammed against the wall.

Breakfast was good I must admit- and dinner at the sushi bar was excellent I must say!

The Hilton right next door is a much better choice- so this is my last and only stay at the hotel. The Hyatt is in much need of room upgrades- overpriced for a business traveler.

Room Tip: Perhaps there is a room with plugs near the desk and wifi that works- but the best tip for a room is...

We spent a week and got really comfortable experience. The hotel staffs are well trained for any occasion including the front desk staffs.
The room was a little narrow after installing an extra bed to a twin bed room but still maintained acceptable space.
You can get an electric adopter for outlet (not converter) easily by calling the front desk and you can leave it the room when you check out.
You have some choice of restaurant but the breakfast buffet place is small and limited menu although the quality is high.
I do not recommend a famous but expensive French restaurant in the hotel. The hospitality of the staffs are excellent but its food quality...

I visit this hotel about 4-5 times per year. This 3 day visit was consistent with past.
Great customer service and staff strive for excellence.
Cost of interent is reasonable if they have to charge.
Bed wad comfortable as was room temperature.
Bathroom was clean and well maintained, just very small.
I recommend this hotel.
