We have been here with 2 of my very good friends on their first day in Japan. The place was recommended by Monocle so we thought It's worth a try. Before ordering, surprisingly one waiter took the menu from our hands and hand it over to Japanese customers at the next table, so we had to ask for an other one from the waitress. When trying to pay we asked to pay separately in two portions, so we handed over 4 different bills. It was very confusing and the guy behind the counter (same guy who took the menu away) refused to answer any question or even make eye contact. Out of confusion we missed to pay one additional bill, so my lady friend had been dragged back from the door, even tho she asked the guy if we are good. It was very upsetting and embarrassing. I really wanted them to have a great time on their first sushi restaurant in Japan. I would say foreigners are not welcome, but may be it was just a bad day. The sushi is excellent and our sushi chef was very friendly. I just felt like 4 points out of five is not accurate.
