If you come to Nihonbashi, it would be useful to visit the local tourist information center in B1 of Coredo 1 Bldg. opposite the majestic Mitsukoshi Department Store. They can give you special maps to find the traditional craft shops in the area. There are several museums, the Bank of Japan, the Tokyo Stock Exchange and other attractions. If you come on a Sunday you will find a number of cafés and restaurants that cater to business employees closed, but shopping goes on unabated as everywhere in Japan.

Supposed to be an important landmark of Tokyo ie the very centre of Tokyo and Japan.
No English signs. Nothing much to see except a marker on the road which you need to stand in the middle of the road to see.

Nihonbashi is an area with new shopping malls and also with old traditional restaurants. It is worthy for some walking and food hunting if you have some spare time other than just shopping in Ginza.

You can visit this bridge once in your life due to its symbol to Japan. Actually it is a very typical street view in downtown, but its historical symbol makes it famous. The highway goes on top of Nihone bashi (Japanese bridge) so it looks a bit gloomy. Within 10- 15 minutes, you can walk to main store of Mitsukoshi (department store.)

Nihonbashi is today shops, restaurants, office buildings, a very pleasant walk from through the Ginza starting from the 4-chome crossing. The bridge was once the starting point for travellers to Kyoto during the Edo Period. Sadly it is nearly an eyesore today due to the highway construction above. You may want to visit the Mitsui Museum here, enjoy an oyster bar, other restaurants, or shop for souvenirs including washi paper.
