“Beautiful home from home”

The property part of The Old Priory is a beautifully renovated property with all modern and comfortable facilities of a high standard. It was a little bit of luxury away from home. It felt so welcoming especially the care we had from Kim who looked after us so well.
It is ideal for visiting Dinan, so close and right in the vicinity of the port with plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Just across the bridge is also a fantastic boulangerie for morning croissants and much more. For those not familiar with Dinan, it is at the bottom of the hill so you need to be fit to walk up to Dinan town either via the steps outside the medieval walls or via a steep road thats mainly for pedestrians. The lovely enclosed garden was ideal to play in for children and great for an Easter Egg Hunt, but adult supervision would be needed for very young children due to the different levels. The patio which sits not far from the viaduct was a real sun trap and from here are wonderful views looking up towards the walled town. Ideal for a large family or groups of friends as its a very sociable property. Would love to stay here again.

Beautiful house in the perfect location for visiting Northern Britanny. Plenty of space for friends or families holidaying together. We have stayed in the house twice (Christmas 2014 & New Year 2016). The house is equipped with everything you need. Restaurants and bars 2 minutes walk away. Historic Dinan on your doorstep. Highly recommended.

The location and the facilities of the accommodation were just perfect for our week's break. We had taken a week to attend a friend's birthday celebrations, adding some days to enjoy Dinan as well. It is conveniently located by the scenic port with its restaurants and bars, which we used lots, and has parking inside the gates. Walking up the hill leads to the lovely medieval town of Dinan. The accommodation is very well finished and equipped, and Wendy was very helpful with advice and guidance. We would recommend it to anyone considering a stay in Lanvallay near Dinan, without hesitation.

“Wonderful home for visiting Brittany”
Reviewed 15 April 2016 for a stay in March 2016

Our extended family of 8 loved this home. There was plenty of room. We didn't use the lovely kitchen to cook a meal but it seemed to be well equipped. We enjoyed our walks up to Dinan to shop and eat. It's such a lovely town. We visit WW11 sites which are about a 2 hour drive away. The contact person, Wendy, was great!! very helpful!

“Home away from home”
Reviewed 13 April 2016 for a stay in April 2016

I can't begin to tell you how wonderful this place is. From the moment we talked with Wendy on the phone trying to find our way, to her meeting us down at the bottom of the road by the Rance river to guide us to the house, the magic began. I will break it down.

One. Wendy is the most gracious host we have ever met. Her kindness and upbeat personality were beyond expectations. She gave us a tour and history of the house and explained everything in detail that was needed for our stay. She gave suggestions on where to eat in the town of Dinan.

When we found out there was no dryer at the house, (but there's a washer), she brought us a clothing rack that we could put by the heating elements(they dried fast!)

When the Wifi went out in the house, she was there in less than 30 minutes to troubleshoot it. Since it hadn't gone out in quite some time, she had to take time to figure which switch it was, but was accomplished.

Two. This beautiful Home is more than adequate for eight people. We had three couples and two children and it was very cozy. One of my most memorable moments was waking up early every morning, going downstairs, making a pot of coffee, waiting for others to get up, then walking up the cobblestone street in Dinan to various boulangeries. Walking the streets at 7 AM in the morning is so quiet and peaceful, it's beyond belief. The sound of the birds, the coolness in the air and every once a while a cat to greet us, was so nice. The way the sun rose in the morning and hit the historic buildings so softly, made for the most magical pictures one could imagine. I could definitely imagine myself living in this home, walking the bridge over the Rance River into Dinan, trekking up the cobblestone hill and heading to work. Unfortunately reality bites us in the butt and it can only be a dream(at this time).
In the evenings, when we returned from our day trips, we would find ourselves sitting down in the formal dining room/living room, writing in our journals or postcards while looking up at the viaduct or the lit up ramparts in Dinan on the hill. We always look forward to coming back to the home.

Three. There are so many options that you can do from this house. Take a day trip to the Normandy beaches, take a walk along the river to Lehon, to the Rose going to coast to see some more surreal beauty or add to the walled city of St Malo or go opposite way to Mont St Michel.

Saying goodbye was hard, but the anticipation of coming back is real. Until we meet again.
