This hotel has no facilities, it is just a collection of rooms in the form of a block house. There are no public rooms, no restaurant, no reception rooms and no bar. When we arrived before 4pm the receptionist took care of our luggage by locking them in a store.
We were on the 2nd floor in Room 201 which was at the back and there were no conventional windows, just an opening out into the central courtyard.
Our safe was not working and there was no coffee/tea making facilities. All there was in there was a TV and a bathroom. Fortunately the water was hot in the mornings and we were continually disturbed by adjacent refurbishment works and other noisy guests.

The redeeming feature of this hotel is undoubtedly the location as it is an easy stroll to the beach and all the local restaurants and bars.

The parking is in San Christobal car park with a discount to 9.50 euros a day which represents a good saving.

Do not expect too much luxury from this hotel.

Room Tip: The refurbished rooms on the first floor will be the best and they have balconies at the front.

Thank you very much for your comment. Our establishment is not luxury as you well describe. We are functional and thus in this way offer a good quality price ratio. For the type of building, we do not have common rooms. Anyway, it would not make much sense, having great cafes, bars, restaurants and all kinds of services around us being in the very center of the city. Your stay coincided with the change of safes, currently having some electronic safes with capacity for laptops and tablets. All our rooms have windows, but as you can read in the descriptions of our website, the standard rooms, like the one you book, are more economical and have windows to the courtyard of the building. If you want views of the Rambla and the port, you must book the superior room, which is brighter and has beautiful views. It only costs a little more ... We are sorry if you were bothered by a client, but if you don´t notify reception, we can not help you. We hope you had a happy trip back home and see you again soon in Alicante. Best regards

The rooms were state of the art during the 1960's. That said, there is plenty of storage space, the beds are comfortable, and the flat screen TV is large. The bathroom was modern and staff were friendly and accommodating. The location is fabulous, on the edge of the old town and older town, two blocks or so from the beach, on a lively boulevard. The less expensive rooms have views of an interior courtyard. On the plus side they are quiet. About a 15 minute walk from the train station.

Room Tip: Pay more if you want a view and larger room. Pay less for an interior courtyard view room that is quiet,

Good value for the money, specifically as the hotel provides some discount to the parking near by. The hotel is somewhat difficult to find, but only for the first time :-) the rooms are practical, not really luxurious but they don't miss much. However I had a room that was not really disposing of a window, which I found peculiar. The reception is always attended and the staff is friendly and helpful (even in English). The hotel is very well situated, close to the center as well as the paseo in Alicante.

Room Tip: ask to have a window at the room

You cannot be more central and surrounded by most amenities as described by the official hotel description!!
You would only see a glass sliding door from the pavement on the Rambla Mendez Nunez. There are two hotels using this entrance and the check in desks are tiny. Hotel Mendez Nunez is on the right hand side.

First stay for one night (Room 200). Clean room with bath/shower, TV & good wifi, enough wadrobe space. Unfortunately the safe deposit was not working due to faulty lock. No tea/coffee making facilities. This room has a window facing the air well!! You may want to upgrade to a front room facing the street for more light.

The check in was swift and the receptionist Lucia was very professional, friendly and helpful and also the other female receptionist when we checked out.
Extremely good value but no frills!!!

It's great to find a hotel with comfortable beds - but that's exactly what you get at the Mendez Nunez. It's very central for good restaurants and bars (the superb Soho Parc is literally just round the corner) as well as the main attractions in Alicante. The only downside to its position is that it's on the Rambla so it can be a bit noisy with passing traffic and so on.

It's a budget hotel which means that the rooms aren't big but they're clean and comfortable. I didn't try the breakfast but went to a little cafe which, again, was just round the corner, for pastries, coffee and orange juice which cost about €4.

I'm told that some of the rooms look out onto a well in the building so the view is non-existent so if that bothers you, you'll need a superior room. The rooms have a safe but it's on the small side and you have to hire a lock from reception. There's a €10 deposit and it costs €2 a day. A word of warning on this - if the hotel's busy, they might struggle to find a lock for you. The other downside for some, is that there's a very, very limited choice of English language television channels.

Definitely recommended.
