Great views of the city and doesn’t cost anything to get in (just the lift price if you don’t fancy the walk up). A really nice place to have a wander, understand a bit about the castles history and take some pictures of the view.

We walked up to the castle through the old town, which was beautiful. The castle makes a great half day trip whilst in Alicante and affords stunning views.

This castle perched on the top of a hill has lots to offer. The walk up is an experience, will get your heart racing, the views along the way and at the top are exhilarating and the atmosphere is one of adventure and majesty. Our kids had a lot of fun exploring the nooks, crannies, the jagged rocks, stony grounds, and the vast spaces. Excellent and not to be missed.

Great advice from TripAdvisor about using the lift up and down to the castle as I broke a leg badly a year ago and doubt I could have walked down to the town having spent an hour going around the castle with its spectacular panoramic views. Lovely coffee shop with a sea view. It is fairly hilly with cobbles so difficult for wheelchairs or anyone with crutches/ walking difficulties. A pity there is not a film to give you a potted history of the castle. Well worth €2.70 charge for lift- castle FREE!

If your up for a good climb and a steep walk on old walls slowly falling apart, this is the place to explore. Once on the top of the hill there is the most spectsculare sight over the city, the Harbor, the sea, the hills, ... a 360 all around. A nice breeze if your lucky but make sure you dont do the climb at mid day heat. The coffeplaces is there and to comfort you all, I think theres a train through the cave that brings you up.
