Xylokastro Beach Hotel

I visited the hotel with friends (2 families with small children). The hotel was actually being renovated during our stay (!) and everything in the room was completely new . It is a 3-4 star hotel, good value for money, as far as the rooms are concerned. Beach is 30 seconds away-quite a clean beach, suitable for children and singles (the beach is situated under a beach bar). The only really BIG disappointment is the food. Breakfast has minimal variety and the food served in the beach bar above the beach, owned by the hotel is hideous-garbage food.

We stayed for 2 nights. This hotel suffers from old age both in styling and wear.
The room did not offer enough space. Nevertheless the balcony was good with a nice view to the sea.
The big advantage of this hotel is the beach bar area.
However, the beach is not a very good one.
And the beach bar may also prove a nuisance at night.
The personnel was helpful.
The breakfast was below average, but not bad.
On the other hand, it's close to Athens, we managed to book a room during high season and paid really cheap. So, overall it was a value-for-money choice for a swimming weekend.

This hotel is good to start for holiday in the Peloponesos. It is well situated at the beach, not too big and the staff is very helpfull and friendly. The hotel is located in a non tourist area. The rooms are clean, well equiped. The beakfast is average. It is a family hotel. Very good guitar entertainment each evening.

The view from our balcony was the only redeeming feature of this hotel. Our bad experience started at reception where we were horrified that the rather surly elderly receptionist would only speak Greek to us - not what you would expect in a tourist orientated hotel. The rooms are on the small size and the bathroom is minute with a ridiculously small 750mmx750mm shower surrounded by a nylon shower curtain. Although clean, the furniture was tired, the beds uncomfortable, the linen not great, the TV did not work and the shower fixture was broken. The breakfast served was ghastly - over cooked boiled eggs, sliced processed cheese, sliced processed cold meat, crisp bread, corn flakes, not too fresh fruit and insipid coffee - that's it! When I asked if I could possibly have a scrambled egg the answer was a flat NO! The gardens are not well maintained and the swimming pool was empty and non functional. All in all a truly disappointing hotel and one that I certainly not recommend.

Stayed here recently; basic but clean accomodation. Even with few people there the tiled corridors and, as others have mentioned, busy road and (the hotel's rather stylish, but loud) bar just outside the front of the hotel mean that this is not a place for people looking for quality sleep. The lack of blinds don't help either (though I managed to rig up a blanket over most of the window so we weren't woken at the crack of dawn!) Saying all that, the place was ok for the money and the staff were friendly enough (and allowed us to check out late on our last day). This would be fine for a weekend, but not much more.

Room Tip: Stay at the back of the hotel.
